I feel like I've said something like this before but a lot of zoos these days can an do do a lot of good for animals and conservation. There are still far too many, especially outside of the US, that don't give any fucks about their animals, but overall they have improved in their treatment of animals, knowledge of animal behavior psychology, etc.

 

Yeah, many do help with conservation efforts and education, etc. but it's still so depressing to see animals caged like that

 

I feel like these days that so many of them in the US were either born in captivity or injured in the wild and then brought in. At least with the major zoos. I imagine it's harder to police what some of the smaller zoos do, but even a lot of them are a part of national zoo organizations that have to meet certain standards.

 

So, as terrifying as that is... if it's true, I guess it's good they're significantly against it/think it's a bad idea?
