Never saw Let Us Prey, but wow that trailer looks great. Props to whoever worked on the score and sound - definitely the best parts.

I saw you ended up watching Dead Silence, but since then have you watched Cabin Fever yet? I enjoyed it moreso than the original honestly.

    I thought It was fantastic.

Not a fan of Henry Bowers, but everything else was so good.

I thought it was decent but I was also watching it while doing something else. I recommended it to my brother and his 6yo son who loves horror films. I'm sure they'll get a good kick out of it.

    I'm a good uncle.

"IT" was solid. It definitely held my interest for the entire runtime but there were a few (mostly minor) things I wasn't crazy about:

    - thought the scene where they clean up all of the blood in Beverly's bathroom was unnecessary, added nothing to the film and was pretty unrealistic.

    - didn't really feel like the one bully kid killing his dad was necessary.

    - thought the kid who played Mike was a pretty bad actor; although this may have been due to his rushed character development.

    - a little too much CGI, especially the other shapes of fear that Pennywise took.

    - it was pretty silly that Beverly murdered her father and then was just like "Ok, I'm going to Portland now!"...like...you just can't murder someone and move across the country, especially when you're 13.

    - hate how little involvement and interest the adults and the rest of the town in general had in the missing persons...but maybe that will be explained in Chapter 2?...like--they didn't want to talk about it too much cause Pennywise fed off of fear (think Freddy vs. Jason, lol)...Although I am not familiar with the source material, so I may just be off base.

have you read the book? I think the novel does a pretty good job at explaining some of the plot points you have issues with, specifically the last one. I do agree that the film could've handled it better, though.

EDIT: Oh, just seeing you say that you haven't read it.

Maybe you didn't feel they were necessary, but both of these scenes were in the book.
She was moving to Portland, Maine not Portland, Oregon. And we don't really know if Alvin Marsh was dead or knocked out, but she was defending herself...

That makes more sense. I'm dumb/geography obviously isn't my strong suit, lol...True, my wife and I were debating whether or not he lived, so that is definitely a valid point...I realize she was defending herself but there would still be an investigation/trial of sorts. Although I do not recall the exact lapse between the last two timestamps, so there might have been one. Definitely an enjoyable flick. Can't wait for Chapter 2.

yeah the book fills in some of those gaps that people have problems with. the guy i saw it with brought up a lot of those same points. i really really liked IT. a few issues with minor details but only because the book is still so fresh in my mind i think. so glad that its doing so well.

all good! It was kind of obvious that it wasn't about Little Evil. Just amused me.

I lucked out and had one of those fabled horror audiences you get so rarely in theaters where it actually elevates the movie with IT. Quiet during quiet scenes, laughing only when it was funny, and screaming if appropriate. Also the loudest gasps I've ever heard every time Pennywise showed up

Super fortunate myself that I didn't get a shitty crowd either. I'm always the most nervous with that when it comes to horror, especially opening weekend.

I had a very strange theater experience last night. The audience was fine, but about 30 minutes into the film this really loud man just sort of stumbled in and walked all the way up to the top...making a lot of noise going past everyone. His breathing was very heavy and everyone just started looking back in that area.

A few minutes later, the lights turned on and the film paused. Four employees walked in and escorted this guy out. Apparently he ran past the kid tearing tickets and hid in our screening. After the movie, the manager handed everyone a free ticket.

I haven't lived here very long, but there was a theater shooting in Lafayette in 2015 so people were very uncomfortable during and after this whole strange situation.

Thankfully the staff paused the film and rewound it a few minutes. And they handled the situation really well after the film by giving out free tickets. Another manager was also explaining what happened to a line of people that wanted to know.
