I get so legitimately upset when people talk about how bad Katy Perry's music is like TEENAGE DREAM IS POP PERFECTION AND U CAN NEVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM HER, SRY!!!! For real like pls recognize this. I'm making a coworker a mix with half Katy and half Carly Rae since we're trying to get her to go to the concert and she doesn't know either, but I'm legit having a hard time choosing just 10 Katy songs cause I forgot how many fun ones she has. She's rarely an artist I go back to but when I do it's a jam.

She is 60. She had never heard of Bruno Mars either until I made her a mix cd and we took her to the concert and now she's OBSESSED with him lmao

 

Completely agree Katy Perry has some gold. Most of Teenage Dream and One For the Boys is great and Prism has its moments too. Waking Up In Vegas and Dark Horse are two of the best pop songs I've heard.

 

One of the Boys is so good. If she took out a few trash songs and swapped them with the b-sides it'd be nearly perfect for me.

I feel like some ppl try to rewrite history when she was a reigning popstar queen and discredit that and I will not let them because I just listened to the entirety of Teenage Dream and it is still a bop and a half.

 

not even a stan but Teenage Dream had 5 #1s and a #3, and One Of The Boys had 3 top ten hits

 

lol yeah like when she released swish swish and the lyric says she'll be here more than a minute, I read a bunch of comments mocking her like "hahaha yeah right" and I'm just like...... she already has been around for a while lol. Like yeah she's flopping now, but she's not a flash in the pan either...

 

Let's not forget Lady Gaga "flopped" but is on a massive sold out world tour and just played the Super Bowl and I'd argue has pretty much cemented her legacy. Pop stars as big as them don't just disappear even if an album or two doesn't do great.

 

Like seriously, she's been around for ages now and has been massive for years, One of the boys is 10 next year and Teenage Dream was 7 last month.

I just spent the past 20 minutes watching old videos of Jonny Craig songs and I still kinda liked some of them, so I'm definitely feeling pretty bad about myself and should go to bed now

 

I still listen to that first solo album every once in a while. Sometimes his voice just hits the spot. I feel gross now too.

 

I still like some old Emarosa/DGD stuff.

 

Yep. Relativity is a beast of an album tbh. Engaging from start to finish. I'll always have love for WISIRO and DTBM as well

 

I've always got bored with the last few songs on Relativity but I think the first two thirds is still pretty great. I feel pretty similarly about DBM too.

 

Ah yeah.. I almost forgot about the last 3 tracks on it. Pretend. Release. The Close. is the last really good song on it.

DGD was always better without jonny though. happiness is still a good album.

I used to love that track too hahaha

I LOVED the s/t DGD album w/ Kurt. Happiness was pretty good but I didn't care for the others.

 

never got into s/t but i really was into happiness haha i can still throw some of it on. my unpopular DGD opinion is that anything with jon mess isn't very good.

I never really was album to get into Jonny Craig even when I wanted to. It just all ended up sounding the same to me. Like the Emarosa self titled was good, but really I would just listen to Toast To the Future Kids and then the rest sounded like less interesting versions of the same song. Isles & Glaciers was great, but I was (am) partial to Vic & Craig Owens. I don't know he has a great voice but I don't feel like he ever knew how to use it.

Lol at Broadway. Same Thing We Do Everyday Pinky was my jam.
