Oh @fenway89 did you go see Close Encounters after all?!

 

I'm interested to see too, even though I'm not going to any of the upcoming dates. I'd guess it'd be an older band who they've they've toured with before, but I really have no idea.

 

I saw them open for Dillinger Escape Plan and they honestly stole the show. It seemed like a lot of people there were not familiar with them and were left amazed. One of the best performances I've ever seen. I really hope to see them headline someday

 

That's why im so curious. It really could go either way.

 

Still kicking myself for not catching them on tour in 09' with Glassjaw.

Ok one last thing before i go Animal Flag would be an excellent choice but I doubt Brand New even knows about them. Glad I already saw that band live. Played their Audiotree live session tonight and I can't wait for new material from them. Perfect blend of so many bands i like but they also have their own thing going on. @Kevin360 recommended for you in case you've never heard of them.

 

Fun fact: In Rainbows is the only Radiohead album I've listened to more than a couple times.

 

had one of those listens this morning where you are hanging onto every second of the music. I just love the album so much, maybe I just feel this way bc its BRAND NEW and they could have done me no wrong.. but I was absolutely loving every second this morning, I've been getting up before school an hour earlier every day this week so I could have more time for coffee and a record before I start, really puts me in a good mindset for the day.

aspects of brand new that influence openers:

they're on APA (so a bunch of the emo bands greg horbal works with could fit)
zack works with their label/management (so newer bands are more on the table)
they've done the tours with foxing and TWIABP and now alex g, sort of smaller newer bands but also the older ones
i still think it's a newer smaller band, jeff, the hotelier (though i'd still be in disbelief), whitney (though there's a weird one day overlap) make a lot of sense
