  1. Feels like everyone I walk by in Manhattan has AirPods. I rarely saw them in NJ, but everyone here in the city seems to have a pair. Making me jealous lol.

    Meet me in Montauk. Prestigious

I've only seen them once in the wild. Did a double take

They've been really difficult to find. I think I saw Best Buy have some in stock recently - I used to work for Verizon and they were always out of stock - then magically one day they had them. Didn't even have to think twice to use my company discount on those.

I have never seen them in person until I came to San Francisco. Still think they look weird but not as bad as I would think.

I've never seen them in the wild but I'll be in San Fran tomorrow so I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Also what a time to visit California for the first time, Jesus Christ. Reached 113 degrees yesterday

I think the toughest thing to get used to with them is while at work - people instinctively look for wires to see if you have headphones in. Get ready for a lot of people to just start talking to you and not realize you have buds in. And the AirPods are surprisingly good at blocking outside noise

My iPod Classic's hard-drive died today. End of an era.

@Jason Tate or anybody. Would anyone know what my best cheap substitute is for an iPod Classic at this point. I figure an mp3 player with an SD card slot. but I'm open to suggestions. It's for my car. so if anyone says just use Apple Music, that's not an option.

  10. Why not a 256 iPhone?

Unfortunately not in the cards for a while, got an upgrade about a year ago and it's only a 64. Maybe down the road when my next upgrade is available that can be the long-term solution but its just not in the budget right now.

I justified it to myself not getting the higher capacity iPhone with the fact that I still had my iPod, really patting myself on the back for that one.

eBay iPod classics. They exist. I still use mine for the 14,000+ songs I have on a hard drive.

Good'ol iPod classics. I miss the days of iPods, CD Players, and flip phones. Simpler times and actually talked to people haha.

My work gave me a work cell phone and a New iPad to use....but my work cell is a flip phone with colored screen and 2.5 megapixel camera. Part of me really enjoys the flip phone. Thing is SOLID and the battery lasts for DAYS.

I was given an iPod Classic about six months ago and I was stoked...then I realized how much easier it is to use iCloud Music Library and gave up on it. I actually sold it lol.

  16. Since launching in December, Apple’s AirPods have accounted for 85 percent of totally wireless headphone dollar sales in the U.S., according to NPD’s Retail Tracking Service. With a use case centering on frictionless access to Siri and other tasks initiated by voice, AirPods really act as an extension of the iPhone. Apple’s path to leadership in the category is helped by disruptive pricing, brand resonance, and excitement over the W1 chip, which significantly eases Bluetooth connections to iOS and Mac devices.
Apple AirPods dominate wireless earbud sales

Tim Cook apparently got a nice bonus for the hugely successful products he's helped push post Steve Jobs and I think the AirPods were a huge help along with the watch for that.

Some iPhone 8, iOS and the Steve Jobs theatre news in the video below. I have to say I'm not overly keen on the apparent new iPhone 'Pro' being called Edition model instead. It makes sense to me if it was called the iPhone Pro over the edition but I guess it's still just a rumour for now.

wonder what the units sold looks like; their price tag certainly helps with the 85% figure.
and while i really want a pair the "frictionless access to siri" is not much of a selling point to me at all.

  19. I’ll probably get whatever the 7s Plus ends up being called

It appears the 7s is getting missed this year and it will be the 8, 8 plus and then the edition. Will be interesting to see, I'll be tuning into the conference.

The thing that puts me off ever getting a normal iPhone again over the plus is the camera. It's just annoying because the plus isn't very convenient when out.

So I bought a Google Pixel back in January, switching from iPhone. Since then, I've had to factory reset the phone twice, and back in March, the phone completely died and wouldn't restart forcing me to send it back and get a new one. Not only that, but Android just isn't a good OS. I'm taking off work on Tuesday to order the 8. I have never switched phones this quickly.

Honestly I just don't think you can get a more robust OS than the iOS for mobiles. Not to sound like an Apple fan boy but I think on the 12th of this month we should see Apple play 'catch up' so to speak and then some with some of Android features.

I had a Pixel as well and loved it at first - but ran into the bluetooth issues (that I still don't think they have fixed) - random disconnections, calls would just end when on bluetooth and I am convinced the audio quality sucked on it as well.

I'm a total tech nerd and me 4-5 years ago loved to tinker around with android, install linux on my pcs, and all that. But now I just want stuff that works. And I know that is an Apple cliche - "it just works" - but it really does. Android has gotten better, but a lot of the time you still feel like you are the beta tester for google - especially when you branch out to the related products like Android Wear.

Last time I tried Android Wear (think it was around the beginning of this year) I spent 5 hours trying to get Google Maps and Google Fit to show up on the watch. Tried resetting, reloading the apps on the phone, etc - finally it just magically showed up. You buy an Apple Watch and the thing sets up in 10 minutes and is ready to go.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

If this year is like the previous three years, the new iPhone will not be available for pre-order on Tuesday. Pre-orders should go live at midnight PST on Friday, the 15th.
