What elevated pedestal though? I'm elevating Oregon for having one of the best coaching staffs in the country. If you simply doubt Taggart while acknowledging the obvious success of Leavitt and Cristobal, you still end up agreeing with me.

 

Well you said trio....I do not equate Willie Taggart into the level of coach that I would Leavitt and Cristobal.

You and I just have a separate value on Taggart entirely.

 

And? Do you not count the other two?

 

Like, Ed Orgeron by no means is a proven coach but he has a top three coordinator in each ear. Which would give LSU one of the best coaching staffs in the country.

 

I'm not sure what the confusion is here....I was just telling Mike that I wouldn't fight it on his assessment of putting Taggart into that third tier....I, however, would not put him there. I don't care much for him therefore I just don't agree with your assessment on the trio issue.

I think Leavitt and Cristobal are at the top of what they do, I do not put Taggart anywhere in that conversation at this time.

Oregon has built this "super staff", we will see if it pays off.

 

Now if you said Oregon has one of the best trio of coaches in the nation (Cristobal, Leavitt, Salave'a), I would support that much before I would with Taggart.

 

They have a good staff vs they have only played one game against a shitty team so it's unfair to judge them with this team yet. Both are good points.

 

Well that is all I am saying. I am just not a believer yet. I also hope he absolutely fucking sucks because ya know, Washington-Oregon but at the same time, the rivalry is better when both teams are good which is something we haven't had in a very long time.

Again, the coaching staff that has been assembled along with Uncle Phil having his hand in the Nike aspect of things, Oregon already has a Top 10 recruiting class for 2018 so it could be a quick turnaround. Time will tell.

High school seniors being recruited were 10 years old when Chip Kelly got the head coaching job at Oregon. 8 years old when he even arrived at Oregon. Man, I forget how young these kids are/how quickly time goes. Feel so old.

I hope to Christ that Chip doesn't come back to the PAC-12 unless it's Washington after CPete retires. Go to the SEC.

Almost gotta think that Chip is the top guy for the big openings next year. Chip also hates the media so that is why I'm not so sold on him going to UCLA if Mora gets canned (which I think he will)

He's a better fit for a smaller city P5 team like, yeah, North Carolina although I doubt they'd ever pay him what he's going to get.

 

The chip Kelly hypothesis could go on forever. I'm sure lovie is gone, would he take the Illinois job? He would have to rebuild the entire program though. Msu is interesting because they don't get a ton of attention but lots of scandals and dantoni has been pretty bad lately.

 

Michigan wouldn't take him. He's not a ~~Michigan Guy~~

 

Will Illinois pay him 8-10M, nope.

He will go to a P5 contender and deal with the media circus before he goes to a middling P5 bottom feeder, imo.

My sleeper is Washington State although again, finances come into play there but that is perfect for what fits him in terms of tiny media market but still a decent team.

I think Leach leaves and goes elsewhere.

 

Once harbaughs gone they'll remember they couldn't get any elite guy they wanted though

That hasn't stopped them. They'll settle for someone lower quality. After the Rich Rod fiasco where boosters hated him from the word 'go', they won't go after someone like chip.

 

Leach is a national treasure and any P5 team would be blessed to have him.

 

He's an awful person though, I could never root for him. He's funny sometimes but he's legitimately nuts.
