I get it so many shows I want to catch up on but no time

 

Just this weekend I finally started watching The Good Place if that gives any indication

 

I have no kids and no soul and all my friends work shitty waiter/retail gigs that have the opposite of my 9-5 schedule and they're all in grossly codependent relationships

So yeah I have some time for shows

 

My sister's boyfriend works for a water comany and they're sending all of them to Houston on Thursday.

We're already prepping here for after Irma and I volunteered to go since I don't have to make arrangements for kids and stuff. I pray it turns though.

 

My church is looking for a a group of people to commit to a two-year volunteer shift in Houston to help with the recovery efforts.

I was considering it, but if my grandparents need help after Irma, or any of my lifelong Tampa friends, I'd go there in a heartbeat.

Its all just a little heartbreaking. My friends in Oregon are threatened by those huge wildfires, too.

y'all are worried about the weather and I just packed up my desk and moved to a different one for the next two weeks before I'm fired.

This is fine. The world is fine. Nothing is wrong. This is okay.

 

My parents have a place in Naples and we're really starting to freak out. Property is one thing... I can't imagine living in South Florida or any of the islands that this storm is headed towards.

It's okay. This month is just rough for a lot of people in a lot of different ways and it makes me sad.

I'll be fine. I'm more worried about the people whose lives are actually upside down right now.

 

Do they have a good policy on it?

 

Yeah, like, part of me is like, "Florida is one of the most prepared places in the world for a storm like this. It'll be bad, but the construction laws there are the way they are precisely for this." But then I think about all the islands between the storm and Florida and images of Haiti come immediately to memory.

 

Yeah, my boss was planning on going to St Thomas after our last day and just staying there for the winter with some friends, but that is probably not happening now...

 

Now there's another tropical storm expected to form into a hurricane too. This is so fucked.

I am not privy to that information, haha. It's a condo in a high rise on the beach. If it hits as predicted, I imagine that they'll at least lose the cars they have down there and could be looking at catastrophic damage to the whole building. It's insane. I'm worried about the Florida people we have in this thread more than anything.

 

Yeah. That could be very bad. Just heartbreaking for a myriad of reasons.

I truly am sorry you're losing your job, btw. It's not fun. But your worth is not defined by it. Make sure you remember that.

 

My brother had a trip planned to there for nearly a year. He and his wife were scheduled to leave this weekend and now moved it back two months... if they don't have to cancel it entirely, I'll be amazed.

I have some leads and some interviews, but making no progress over the last month and a half is disheartening. I'm not used to this.

 

But life will be okay. This is far from the worst thing that could happen.

I'm trying to force myself to stay positive.

Like, at least I get severance.
