I call b.s. on this, you fell asleep at the end of Same Logic/Teeth which is one of their best songs period and you passed out right as Jesse is doing some of his best screams in their discography? Sounds like a tall tale to me.

 

I remember 137 starting, so I had gotten past Logic which is one of two songs I like on the album. Didn't make it through 137 though.

 

Some guy said there's no way Logan wins the whole thing. If it does he bet he'd literally eat the cover of YFW on video and post it here

 

Quite a few people do! As I said, mostly just because I know growing up this song, 70, and Jude were my favorites and most played. I feel like changing my votes now would be not honest of me haha.

 

Yep. And it's a good song, so it has a chance.

 

I don't even remember what most of the YFW songs sound like but now I'm voting for Logan

Ohhhhh now that I think about it, this is really gonna come down to voting for the best song on the album and staying true to the band VS whether or not people wanna add a little fiber to @EmmanuelSCastle 's diet.

Whether or not it includes the full band, I think it's a pretty safe bet to say that universally Soco is the fan favorite from this album. Doesn't go for everybody, I know. But as an example, I went to high school with a lot of people who do not listen to Brand New at all or rock music in general but they know that song.

 

Soco is definitely more familiar to non-fans of the band but a large part of that is from the sheer number of graduation playlists it's on.

 

That's not what you said though. You said voting for "the best song", which is debatable, and "staying true to the band", which is open to interpretation versus voting to have someone eat the album cover.

And even this post kind of doesn't add up. Soco is a clear fan favorite by using the example of "a lot of people who do not listen to Brand New at all". Those aren't fans, homie.

That song has fans outside of the bands following, not something so easily dismissed. Maybe I didn't word it correctly to correspond with my previous post. It is open to interpretation, and I interpreted that Logan is still in this because of people wanting to see that album cover eaten, not because they're voting based on what songs are really their favorite. Logan imo is not a better song than Soco and I think many would agree. Soco breathes life into a room and has a huge nostalgic pull. Logan is "one of those pop punk tracks Brand New did on that first album they did a long time ago" to many.

Eh, people who like Soco and have probably never heard Logan or any other YFW song are not really relevant in this context.

Logan is only another pop punk track to those who don't know pop punk well. The same applies to every music genre. It's just another rap song. Just another country song. Whatever. To the uninitiated that all it is, but to those who actually appreciate the genre see beyond that. And again in this context, that view is irrelevant.

I can't change your song preference. But to write off Logan so easily because of some vague unknown unquantifiable "people" is weird.

Missed the last round and I'm not too invested so I look forward to jumping in with Deja again when I'll start having real opinions. In the mean time I'm still on board to make people eat paper cus I refuse to grow up so good luck Logan.

 

Logan feels less like a pop punk track than a lot of the album. It's a good rock song.

 

You talk as if Logan is some groundbreaking pop punk song and it's really not. Definitely not the best on the album. You can take anything I say and use it in a grand scheme context but it's still not a defining song for many and is very easily passable.

 

Now now, do I need to send you two to different rooms to cool off??

But Logan is the best song on that album. It's such a good song that they named a Hugh Jackman movie after it.

 

Sometimes I read what I say after the fact and realize i'm aggressive sounding via text. I promise in person I don't sound as defiantly hard-headed as my words read.
