I am sorry, I wanted to like this album but it is incredibly dull except in a few spots. I wanted to like it but it pales in comparison to their previous work, or the work of other artists this year. -_-; It is just lacking something, like passion and emotion. Things the previous albums have. This one starts strong but then drones on and on.

 

One day you'll get it and you will hate yourself for writing this haha

 

Doubtful. I've listened to it over a dozen times, and each time I get sleepy or frustrated because I want to enjoy it like everyone does and I cannot. Their previous works clicked with me easily, this one shuns me.

 

I am pretty sure these types of words are grounds for banning if the admins catch wind.

 

Yea, but those dozen times were in a couple week period. You most likely haven't changed or grown or experienced many new things in that time, this applies to everyone.

Overtime, you will change, and potentially this album will make a home in your soul and you will be so bummed you are saying it lacked emotion. Like, holy shit.

 

I really hope you are right in all honesty. I don't see it myself, but I can hope. For now, it's a good natural sleep aid.

Of course you can't see it. You're still the same person it doesn't impact yet. I don't mean that in a mean way. But like, as you are now, you clearly don't have whatever that X factor is a part of you that makes this album utterly destroy people like it does me.

Give it time. Revisit it months or years later. You never know.

Soco- One of the few songs from the album the I think *truly* holds up outside of nostalgia. I enjoy 70x7, but the lyrics have obviously not aged well (as is the case for most of the album), and in a way that's uncomfortable. In hindsight, the thought that so many people quoted the bridge of this song for away messages and status updates (and that this is the song people yell out at shows for the band to play) is... not great.
Failure- Both of these songs are among my favorites on the album, honestly. That said, I've been revisiting this album a lot the past few days, and I realize that Failure is maybe the most enjoyable and fun song on the record to me, and it's the one I probably look forward to hearing most when I press play. I understand that it was literally written as filler, but it doesn't stop it from transcending that purpose to me; the riff is catchy and interesting (even if it's a rip from BTS), the melodies are super catchy, it's bouncy rhythm is super fun, and the lyrics elicit some smiles from me in their meta cheekiness.

 

Don't worry, you're far from alone; I feel the exact same. It's a pretty boring album in comparison to their others. When Daisy at times felt felt too harsh, this just feels almost too mellow. I'm surprised people are rating it so highly. But then again, this site is always going to overhype anything Brand New, lol. It can compete with Daisy but not Deja or Devil.

 

I cannot agree with this post enough to put into words.

Some of my favorite records don't click right away. I think TDAG was out for quite some time before I finally listened to it at like 1am one night and it just made sense. More recently, John Moreland comes to mind. I listened to his stuff over and over and then one morning it's just clicked and I bought everything I could get my hands on and fell in love.

 

I'll probably edit with some in depth reasoning later but Soco and Logan for me.

Right. I was the same way with Taking Back Sunday's Tidal Wave. My first few listens to it I didn't really like the new sound. But then one day it just clicked, and I love the whole album and consider it one of their best now.

 

I still wish they'd tell us what's gonna happen when the old man goes.

 

Sucks that Failure would totally win if people weren't pushing the Album cover dinner. I mean, i'm all for it too, but Failure is an old favorite. Doesn't stand a chance against Soco which was always gonna be the obvious winner.

 

Is it just me or is Degausser on Spotify (filed under the TDAG album) some acoustic live version? It has been for a very long time and it's so annoying.

 

I genuinely think Logan is much better than Faiure.

 

I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea what this "eating the album cover" thing is about. But based on context clues, I think I'm excited about it.
