iOS 11 Dock and Gesture Controls to Replace 'iPhone 8' Home Button Entirely

Across the bottom of the screen there's a thin, software bar in lieu of the home button. A user can drag it up to the middle of the screen to open the phone. When inside an app, a similar gesture starts multitasking. From here, users can continue to flick upwards to close the app and go back to the home screen. An animation in testing sucks the app back into its icon. The multitasking interface has been redesigned to appear like a series of standalone cards that can be swiped through, versus the stack of cards on current iPhones, the images show.
Elsewhere, in perhaps a more contentious move, Apple has apparently opted not to hide the notch area at the top of the OLED screen, so a definite cutout area will be visible when using apps with non-black backgrounds.
The cutout is noticeable during app usage in the middle of the very top of the screen, where the status bar (the area that shows cellular reception, the time, and battery life) would normally be placed, according to the images. Instead, the status bar will be split into left and right sides, which some Apple employees call "ears" internally. In images of recent test devices, the left side shows the time while the area on the right side of the notch displays cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity and remaining battery life. Because of limited space, the status bar could change based on the task at hand, according to a person familiar with the testing.

I could get used to it - but anyone who is the go-to tech support for their parents has to not be liking this. My mom picks up new stuff pretty quick, still kind of glad she just upgraded to the 7.

On another note - man my Apple Music New Releases playlist was shit this week. Not a single thing that even closely resembles what I have liked or listened to recently.

Meanwhile I open Spotify Release Radar and its Angels & Airwaves, Weezer, The Killers, Anti-Flag, Brand New, Neck Deep and Kesha within the first 10 tracks.

Just tell the parents to get the other phone with the home button.

Has anyone used Apple’s financing program? It seems like a pretty good option on paper.

I have. It's not different than any other store finance program. You basically apply for the credit card and it's interest free for an agreed amount of time. Only catch not really discussed if you haven't paid off the balance by the time that interest free period is up you are charged the interest rate for every pay paid before then. And it's a credit card so it's like a 20% interest rate.

Anyone have any experience with T-Mobile Jump and the iPhone Upgrade Program? Trying to decide the best route to go this time around.

hi, am i missing something or is bluetooth the literal worst? My macbook air will not even play local files on these speakers that are literally less three feet from me without constant choppiness and speeding up/slowing down to compensate. It's infuriating, genuinely genuinely infuriating. Why did I spend money on this shit

    plz advise

I feel like the Bluetooth protocol sucks. I've had issues with my jaybirds where I'm playing from my iPhone in my pocket and bend over to grab stuff on it becomes choppy.

Decided to upgrade to the 7 Plus today - T-Mobile is running a $300 trade in promo. Ended up being too good to pass up - I got the iPhone SE through the BOGO deal last month, so ended up paying that off with the $400 gift card they gave me. Then traded in the SE for another $300 gift card.

It's astonishing how long Amazon has dragged their feet with this AppleTV app.

So the new iPhone reveal is on the 12th. I'm eagerly anticipating the new 'Pro' version but damn if it's going to be above 1000 it might be a little while before I upgrade.

so when apple announced the 7 and subsequently the lack of a headphone jack I definitely thought it was dumb as fuck. but two days ago I got a 7 plus and the lack of a headphone jack isn't even noticeable or any sort of problem. the adapter is super small. and actually the ear buds that come with the phone are way better than any apple ear buds I remember using, it's been a good few years since I've used their ear buds (or really any ear buds) but the frequency range is better than I remember old models being

The Air Pods take it to another level. They look goofier in the ads than they do in person and they are easily some of the best tech I have ever used.
