This is a bad post. I really couldn't care less for flair. Having good chops is way more important than looking cool while playing. I mean, rocking out or whatnot is cool and all, but if you're not playing tight or keep messing up, you'll find yourself without a job.

showmanship is way more important for guitarists and singers who arent sitting down the whole time

Rickie from mwY is thrilling to watch though. I've never seen a more lively drummer

Also, yes DD is an amazing drummer and the second time that band has lucked out with finding somebody up to par with Ratboy. But not to count out Mitch, who goes ham every live show and actually used to be in the band, left, watched them cycle through like 8 in 5 years, then came back to the band. He's probably played bass on more releases than most think.

I was referring to an argument I saw earlier that one musician can easily replace another because it's easy to learn the songs.

I'm just saying learning the songs isn't everything

you shouldnt mistake a new drummer or bassist coming into a band and fitting right in to mean that drummers and bassists are replaceable. it just means that new member is very good. and bands cycle through guitarists a lot too. singers are different because voices are more unique to the individual but even then bands have switched singers successfully. dillinger escape plan, saosin (for a while), ttng. its not unheard of.

Just stick your fingers in your ears and yell into the void about how awesome it is having a Bad Albumâ„¢ on vinyl

Some drummers are really exciting to watch play... even sitting down

I miss Gabe. I get why he doesn't want to do Midtown again. Didn't he say one time it's annoying everyone wants Midtown back but they weren't making it the first time? Either way I miss the Midtown version of Gabe. Gabe trying to be JT just wasn't as fun

oh yeah for sure but its not necessarily make or break for whether or not i think a drummer is great. especially since 99% of the time im listening to drums its on record, not live.

That song was my jam in 2004 haha. If I could see what songs I played most that year, that was probably the top

Ohhhh I forgot those came out that year. Yeah I think Decade Under The Influence and Pain were the main soundtrack to that summer for me. I didn't start listening to My Chem until that fall when one of my buddies at school bought that album and told me Gerard was a better screamer than Bert Mckracken

Oh I agree, my original post was just to add another bullet point to why a drummer isn't easily replaceable. I certainly don't think showmanship is the most important quality in a drummer

They did replace their drummer a few times but he was their best I think.
