Yep. Tony was integral to making their music sound the way it did.

MewithoutYou is another band who's rhythm section is incredible. The loss of Greg is a big one, that mans could slap the hell out of a bass and groove like no other.

I was listening to Ten Stories this morning and the drums/bass is absolutely killer on that album. A real highlight for me on what I think is an underrated but great album

There was some SOAD shit talk, blakebeats pissed people off again because he said drummers and bass players are easily replaceable, we all planned Jason Tates wedding playlist or something, not completely sure.

As a drummer, somebody show me where the fuck this started because this statement is ludicrous.

Drummers and bassists are super replaceable. Everyone knows geddy lee and Neil pert are the least important members of rush

About the only band I can think of where that argument works is ETID. They've somehow gotten better with different bassists and drummers.

Because their current drummer is Daniel Davison one of the best drummers in the history of metalcore. He was in Norma jean then played on disambiguation by underoath (my fav by them by far I think he was way better than Aaron ever was) and he fucking slayed on Low Teens

Showmanship plays a big part in it as well. Some drummers are way more exciting to watch than others.

One of my brothers has a masters in music education and specializes in percussion. Another one of my brothers has no formal training, but was in a fairly popular pop punk band a decade ago.
Now my classically trained brother can listen to any pop punk song and play it right away with zero effort but he lacks the flair and frenetic energy of my other brother. Who technically isn't as good of a musician.
