Gunn revealed for the third film that the Zune will basically be Yondu's way of communicating with Peter from the grave. Interesting way of going about it.

Finally watched this. It was a bit of a mess. Very enjoyable though. The opening act was bad though.

This is a great look at the themes and "feels" of GOTG2. I haven't rewatched the film yet since it came out, but watching this reminded me why it gives the first Guardians a run for its money as far as my favorite MCU film is concerned. I've really gotta grab the Blu Ray and rewatch it ASAP.

My 2nd viewing of this solidified it as my favorite MCU movie.

I thought that this was a pretty enjoyable movie comedy-wise, but i thought the story overall was wildly lacking. the whole sister battling throughout the movie just got so old so quick. definitely prefer GG1, but neither would be my favorite MCU film. That would either go to Winter Soldier or Age of Ultron.

I watched it over the weekend and yeah, felt like this could have been just a 30 min tv episode. How did so little happen in 2 1/2 hours? Had some good laughs though.

Jesus. You clearly missed the point of the movie. Just watch the above video. It explains plenty of what was happening in the movie.

Yeah this is upper tier Marvel. Not perfect, but strong.

Oh, no thanks. I really don't want to watch a video. If I didn't like it on first watch then why do I need it explained to me? MCU has done so many amazing things, I'm not even that bummed it wasn't too good. They were bound to miss some time. Carry on.

Ok I lied. I did want to watch a video about the movie. This pretty much summed it up for me.

There are criticisms of the film that I understand, but a lot of story criticisms I see are really dumb and completely miss what this film is going for. It's about these characters' emotional journey, both individually and as a whole, not about any particular space adventure plot/mission.

I especially hate every time someone complains about Nebula and Gamora, who had one of the most emotionally engaging journeys for me. If you wanted to skip these scenes of two sisters working out their complex feelings for and history with each other so that you could get back to the adventure, you're watching the wrong film.

Agreed. Love GotG2, definitely top tier MCU. I think this improved a lot from the first movie.

  19. Can't understand how people claim little or nothing happened in this movie.

It's like character development 101. They took characters we loved instantly in the first movie and put them on a journey that uncovered their deepest and most sincere motivations and feelings.

The final shot is Rocket Racoon crying. Not many MCU movies can claim something like that, not many comic book movies can either.

Not many movies in general end on a shot of someone crying.

  21. I'll take character-driven over plot-driven every time when it comes to these superhero movies, especially when there are so many now.

  22. Yeah. It's a movie with a big heart, and it's not afraid to be.

James Gunn adores these characters and that really shows in the movie too.

These are both my favorite Marvel movies by a massive margin. I'm sure there are plenty of valid arguments against feeling that way but they are so damn fun and also make me feel things.

Thought it was decent. I think I liked the first one more just because it felt fresh and different.
It felt like they were trying too hard to cram as many jokes in as they could, and most of them missed the mark for me.
