  1. I can't imagine Thrice without Eddie either.

  2. Nope. That's why they're in that list.

    In my eyes, yes.

I know a lot of people who think Travis is the best member left of Blink-182

  5. Looking at social media accounts makes a pretty good case Mark's surpassed Travis in popularity over the past few years. Even if Travis remains very well known.

I don't know who any of them are so I'll believe you.

That's why I said in most instances. There are many, many bands whosent drummer and bassist are replaceable

  7. There are practically infinite bands where every member is replaceable because no one cares about them at all. This argument is dumb.

Like if I woke up to news tomorrow that Brand New's bassist or drummer got replaced, I wouldn't even bat an eye.

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

Dammit, forgot about Ben Koller due to an internal debate as to whether Phil Collins counts when he was with Genesis.

See I disagree. In most cases, singers are not replaceable because even if they don't have a unique voice, they have a unique voice to that band.

I'm pretty sure Travis has more name recognition that Mark. But if you said Mark was the singer and bassist of blink-182, people would know who that is (just maybe not his name right off the bat)

As a drummer I definitely find it kind of shitty to insinuate that most drummers can be hired and fired without affecting their bands. There are so many bands that are elevated massively due to the talent of their rhythm sections: MewithoutYou, Thrice, Manchester Orchestra, Brand New, Circa Survive, The World Is A Beautiful Place. I could keep going. For a long time.

You said where "every member is replaceable"

    That implies the singer.

  16. Try again. You'll get it!

Well I don't get what you mean by what you wrote then.

I think my soul may just come out of my body and start jumping on peoples heads when they inevitably explode live into "Goddamnit you look so lovely - but you sound sound SOUND SO UGLY".

I got chills today listening to this on a full playthrough.

Even if some bands drummer isn't the face of the band or whatever, there are a ton of bands who have drummers who are unique to the point of it being a defining feature of their sound for me. mewithoutYou being the biggest example for me. Ricky is just stupidly good. And his style is really unique. I think the band would suffer greatly without him. Other examples would be Brand New, Dance Gavin Dance, Circa Survive and The Dear Hunter. I'm sure there are more examples, but all those bands wouldn't be the same without their drummers. I've only recently started really hearing bass in music though, so I can't quite comment on that part.

ALSO I know this is mostly about bassists and drummers, but one of the most stressful experiences my former band went through was trying to replace our rhythm guitarist. It all but broke us up 2 years before we eventually decided to disband. EVERY member of a band is important. Weird that that even needs to be stated.

Ricky is unreal. I listened to their first 3 records today, and his drumming is just so tight, creative, and interesting. They would not be the same band without him.

Every member musically in Brand New is replaceable to me except Jesse and Vin

Every member is important for a band to function, I agree.

I'm purely talking musically. Like how Travis Barker replaced Scott Raynor and even made the drumming better than it was before.
