Never realized that. That's pretty cool

    I'm flailing now.

Can we just blend the 2 albums together. Call it "California Neighborhoods" and be done with it.

    3. Board to Death
    4. After Midnight

I'm kinda bummed that including anything post-reunion kinda devalues their discography. Before they reunited Cheshire Cat was really the only weak point and even that had some great songs on it

    I'm flailing now.

If I went 13-14 track it makes it. I kept it at 12 to be "realistic" and it didn't make the cut.

I also wonder if it was Mark and/or Travis trying to please Tom and not try to rock the boat a lot at the beginning. Remember they tried to record Neighborhoods when they first got back together in 2009 but decided to just focus on the reunion shows and get back to a good place as part of a band again because the recording process wasn't working out. Mark had mentioned people were tip toeing around each other and not being honest about song ideas.

I do wonder what Neighborhoods would have sounded like if Jerry Finn was still alive.

    Even I would include Natives

I think Tom's writing on Natives is career-good stuff. Love his verses.

I don't like Natives. The guitars sound like shit. The verse is cool but then the chorus doesn't blend with the verse at all. Mark's delivery of the chorus sounds weird and kinda "off" and it has a really boring melody. I don't like Travis' drums either.

Other than that it's great. Haha.

  14. theory: Tom wrote Natives when he fucked up trying to play M+Ms

Isn't Natives just a recycled guitar riff to one of his AVA's songs? I think maybe Young London?

  16. The intro is basically M+Ms with very slight variations

  17. I don't think I've ever listened to Young London until now -- that song is similar too

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

It would have been cohesive and not called Neighborhoods for one lol.

I wonder what blink and Trio would be if Jerry Finn was still alive. AFI too

Certainly is an interesting 'what if' question. It seemed like once Tom quit/left blink in 2005 he had issues with wanting to control everything. I wonder if Jerry would have been able to reign Tom back in and get him to focus on being a part of a band again instead of wanting to do everyone on his own. Ultimately I think we would have gotten a better album if the guys spent more time in the studio together but I think it probably would have been only a matter of time before Tom quit again.

I wonder what Tom's thought process was not using Jerry as his producer on the first AVA album. Maybe simply wanting to move away from the punk rock scene?

It's just as much as I like this band, when I'm thinking of bands with amazing overall discographies this wouldn't be one of them- especially when including post-reunion material
