Rumor is Auburn is going to have some major suspensions for the first game... We'll find out when that depth chart gets released today.

none reliable. rumor is Pettway and Sean White. The only "source" is a read between the lines article about Malik Willis splitting time with the 2's in practice this week. Seen a couple comments here and there about it though. We'll know today when a depth chart is released though.

I'm so excited about Saturday. I swear the first college football Saturday is my favorite day of the year. I'm finally off from work too so I can sit around and do absolutely nothing but eat food and drink and watch games. I'm looking forward to week 2 as well, which is a better overall slate of games. Fuck it feels good having football back.

This is the first season in years that I don't have work on Saturday.

Clemson has been elite for a couple of years now. They've already reloaded.

It will hard to replace the production at quarterback right away and you can replace a leader like Ben Boulware, but they've consistently put together top tier recruiting classes. They have one of the best freshman QB prospects on their roster right now and another one coming in again next year. That's how you set yourself up to continue the dominance. Dabo, Jeff Scott, and Mike Reed consistently reload that roster with elite talent.

They may not contend for a national championship this season with Kelly Bryant taking over at QB, but they are going to run all over teams with Bryant, Feaster, Etienne, and Fuller. The defensive line is also one of the best ever. Not just this year. Ever. Wilkins, Ferrell, and Lawrence are incredible talents.

Clemson is not Alabama, but they are elite.

Fair. What do you think their record will be?

I think they can win at least 10 games - the toss ups for me are the back to back games against NC State and Florida State.

I've coached against Kelly Bryant - he's a very good runner, but he's not DeShaun Watson or anything close. If Tavien Feaster gets going, Clemson honestly has a shot at the playoffs again.

Clemson has a national title defense. The biggest question mark will be their passing game and the quarterback situation. A huge question mark to have going into a season...

I'm really glad we catch Clemson early in the season. I'm not saying Auburn is going to win in Death Valley, but playing early in the season compared to later favors us more i think.

Also, speaking of week 2, why is every good game on at the same time? Georgia Notre Dame, Ohio State Oklahoma, and Auburn Clemson are all 6:30CST kicks, with Stanford USC kicking off at 7:30. That is insanely stupid.

EDIT: apparently Auburn Clemson is 6, but my point still stands. Too much overlap.

I'm v.happy when PAC 12 games aren't on at 10pm and I fall asleep on my couch

Even if Auburn beats Clemson, they can still recover from that early loss. The FSU and NC State games just become much more crucial.

Really looking forward to that game. Auburn is one of the games I'm most worried about this year.

I'll be on their side every time except for when they play Clemson.

Gus Malzahn is awesome. Jarrett Stidham is a good story too. I hope that kid shines.

Same for Auburn, just replace FSU and NC State with Georgia and LSU. Alabama just can't be a "must win" game for Auburn when Alabama is this dominant, but you have to beat Georgia this year.

Same here but for LSU. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

I really wish we had an off week so I could go to LSU-BYU in the Superdome. Those tickets are so cheap after the relocation.

If I was still in Florida I would do it. Too far and expensive to swing it here. And just bad timing.

@CarpetElf I was thinking about this yesterday, but who would you consider LSU's biggest rival to be right now? I mean even though The Boot exists, it's not Arkansas I would think.

I had this thought because there are plenty of misaligned rivalries in the sense that they might not be each other's biggest rival. For example, Miami considers FSU to be its biggest rival, but FSU and UF both consider each other to be their main rival. Is it the same with LSU seeing Bama as their biggest rival, but Auburn and Alabama are always each other's top priority?

It is exactly like that actually. Alabama is definitely LSU's biggest rival. In my opinion, though honestly Anton may be better to ask given his proximity, it goes Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss. LSU and Alabama (much like FSU and Miami) was often one of the biggest games of the year. But the Iron Bowl is historic.

I always think LSU vs. Auburn is one of the most visually pleasing games. I wonder if y'all will wear away and us home when we come there. I think we did that last time.

Yeah, it's LSU or Alabama here. There's a ton of ULL stuff here too, but the big teams around Louisiana are LSU and Bama.

If Ole Miss could stay consistently competitive, they'd become a bigger rival for LSU but Alabama is the one that's in their way in the SEC West.
