The thing about the QB market is we can all make fun of this, but most here would give him the same contract

Not to mention, can you name a Lions RB that has been relevant while Stafford has been there? Hes had 2 years (2011/2016) where no RB on the team broke 400yds. Another (2015) where nobody broke 600yds. Reggie Bush is the only 1000yd rusher he's ever had. Even the year Stafford was hurt, they had no RB break 600yds.

Its what Kirk Cousins is dealing with in WAS right now. You can be a 65% completion, 4000+yd, 2:1 TD/INT ratio QB and still be on an 8-8 team because of bad defense and no variety

  3. I mean at 30 you can still get a good 4-5 years out of him.

Yeah, especially at QB. He'll be 35 when the contract is up. That's not bad at all.

I'm 100% okay with this contract, and he would've gotten even more had he been on the open market. Jags/Browns/Jets would've thrown 30M at him without question.

Are those three teams really the best to use as an example for making an intelligent QB decision?

See y'all in a year when Matt Ryan and Rodgers get more money than Stafford at older ages

See you in a year when Matthew Stafford watches from home while Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers play for a Super Bowl appearance.

I guarantee other teams would too. I'd much rather pay Stafford this contract than be stuck with a shitty QB and hoping every year we'll finally draft the right one like a lot of teams in the league.

Rodgers will be at home after ruining the Packers season AGAIN

but really, I think Stafford is underrated at this point in his career, and he's never had good teams around him. If Stafford was on some other teams, he would have playoff wins/winning records on the road as well as against winning teams.

Yup our starters for week 1 might be Bruce Ellington and Jaelen Strong

But it's whatever, if there's anything the Saints have taught me we can just blame this for everything

Houston area native Jerry Hughes donating $25,000 up front plus $5,000 per sack to the hurricane relief efforts.

To be honest he should have done $5,000 per personal foul penalty, that might have been more money than sacks but hey good move

Stafford is very good and I like him. But we debate if he's top ten and now he's the highest paid player ever? That's laughable. Justifiable? Absolutely considering he can basically hold that team hostage. But it's still laughable that a quarterback with zero playoff wins who is just now being considered top ten is also the highest paid player ever.

Is he a better man or zone corner? Brandon Beane loves trades apparently

It's the market for QBs, and it's only going to get worse. Shout out to Joe Flacco for the start of this madness

  21. See the zero playoff wins argument is a joke honestly. If you're gonna tell me that falls all on him I don't know what to tell you. Tony Romo is a perfect example as well.

The blame lies entirely on Stafford now haha.

  23. Soon enough Cousins is gonna set the bar even higher. At the same time I get it considering QB's are at a premium.

Not really. Again, he could've gotten even more. The precedent has been set in the past. Every QB from now on will get more and more.

It's not a joke to suggest that you should maybe win a playoff game or two before becoming the highest paid player ever lol. I never said it all fell on him. I just stated the fact for what it is - he's never won a playoff game and that is apparently deserving of being the highest paid player ever.

Romo is a perfect example for me, not you haha. Romo never was the highest paid player in the sport and he also beat Stafford in the playoffs haha
