Put me in the pro-STG camp. That bass line is infectious and, while I don't currently relate to the lyrics (I'm 35 and married with 2 kids), I did relate to them strongly when the song was released and I was younger, even through my mid-20's in some respects, and that part of me hasn't just vanished.

The themes of the pressures and insecurities that can come along with sex, especially at the end of high school and into college, are I think quite relatable for a lot of people in America at least.

 

Also, in the bridge of Same Logic.....I'm starting to become convinced that the third "goddamnit you look so.." line actually says "you sound butt ugly" and not "so ugly"...anyone else hearing that?

 

Honestly, if I was making my perfect Brand New setlist, those songs would be well down the pecking order.

Well both those songs are in my top 5 Brand new songs of all time so I guess just different strokes for different folks

Yeah, that's fair. I agree though that I think 'Sic Transit' is the song most at risk of dropping out along with something like 'Millstone' for the new songs.

 

I must have missed this somewhere but they def shouldn't stop playing Jesus

Just listened. It's definitely "so," it just sounds slightly different than the first two times he's singing it.

 

Between this thread and all the Taylor Swift bullshit these forums are some type of way lately

 

If they really do go out in 2018 with a final tour, they just need to do a Springsteen-esque set and play most of their discography over like 3 hours

 

Yeah I can kind of hear the "oh" sound if I listen very closely, but the "s" sound gets lost in the noise and makes it sound like a hard consonant sound.

Why did people latch on to that fusion anomaly crap so hard on the idiotic subreddit? Like there has never been anything involving Brand New that had clues hidden to stuff. I'm literally dumber having clicked into that subreddit

 

I don't know how Brand new operates in their head but that wouldn't make sense to me being on of their most popular songs

Well yeah, I agree with that for the most part.

But Sic Transit would have been cut years ago probably if they thought that way about every song.

 

If they gave a shit about what was popular they'd play 70x7 every night. I think it's pretty clear this band does what they want to do

 

Sic Transit Gloria is not one of their best songs

Jesus Christ, though, is, and they should keep playing it

 

The thing about a band like "Brand New" and their "hits", is a song like "You Won't Know" is more of a hit in their actual fan base than "Sic Transit" or "Quiet Things".
