Nope it was 100% done to add tension to the dramatic "oh look Sansa is gonna accuse Arya of murder but wait she actually accused Littlefinger lol bet u were scared there" bit.

Had they given the storyline a bit more thought and time, could've gotten the same satisfying "Stark sisters wreck Littlefinger", probably even more satisfying if we get to watch them play him. But instead really felt like they took the cheap easy way out.

Great episode to end a shaky season. I hope the rumors about every episode of season 8 being 90+ minutes are true, the show really benefits when it can breathe a little bit.

Did Littlefinger just expect Arya not to tell Sansa where she got the letter from?

Sam teaching Bran something he didn't already know was kind of curious? Did Bran just not know because he didn't know where to look or find that memory? Also surely he can see what's going on in Kings Landing right? Like he knows Cersei is just playing them? And are we supposed to believe that Arya and Sansa are cool with Jon bending the knee to Dany?

Why did Tyrion look so disappointed when he saw Jon walk into Dany's room? Can't wait to see Jorah's face when he finds out about Jon and Dany.

Loved The Hound's reaction to seeing The Mountain in the dragon pit. Very well done. The entire scene in the dragon pit wad awesome. Felt their exhibit/display was very convincing - though they must have rehearsed that a million times before because it was executed almost flawlessly ha. Of course there was going to be some bickering considering the guest list, but it was still funny to see Euron get told to sit down. That part where Drogon escorts Dany to the pits and then gracefully drops his shoulder for her to step down. Then Cersei with the great line, "we've been waiting for quite some time."

What do you think Tyrion promised Cersei to make her (at least appear to) change her mind?

Are Tormund and Beric supposed to be dead? Seeing The Night King ride Viserion was cool as hell. I guess that all but confirms Jon is the 3rd dragon rider?

It was great to watch Jamie finally start to see Cersei as everyone else does. Still can't tell if Cersei is really pregnant or not; though I'm leaning towards not. She brings it up at convenient times for her to Jamie.

Something else I really enjoyed - Theon coming to Jon for council. Being the kingly King that he is, of course he said all the right words. When Jon told him he didn't need to choose sides and was in fact a Greyjoy and a Stark, you could almost see a light turn on in Theon's head.

So the new season starts filming in October, right? Any guesses as to when a realistic premiere date for the final season will be? 18 months?

I love how Little Finger plead to Sansa to let him defend himself, she lets him and he realizes he has no one else but her and continues to grovel to her. Good fucking riddance, glad they weren't setting the Stark sisters up against each other. Even this show isn't dumb enough to do that.

I enjoyed it, good end to the season in terms of consideration for everything that's building and the rapid pacing. Leaves the whole of next season to basically be a bunch of fuck off war.

In regards to Jon I think he might die too, I can see him giving his life to allow Dany to rule (and maybe she ends up pregnant with their child following this episode) with Tyrion at her side. Jon's so fucking noble that it's exactly the type of thing he'd do but he'd consequently go down as a legend in Westeros for centuries to come.

Jon would give his life for Dany/the realm/their hypothetical child and then get saved by Arya anyways

They also have 0 romantic chemistry. Especially when you compare their relationship to Jon and Ygritte or Dany and Khal Drogo.

I've seen a couple of recaps that say 2019 is when it returns. I took it at face value, but I could be completely wrong.

It makes sense, they only just started talking about when they're gonna start filming for it in a recent interview right? So doesn't surprise me. Although, I hope they've filmed a bunch of it at same time as this season and there's less to do - meaning MAYBE next year?

Production for season 8 starts in October, right? So I'm expecting it to premiere sometime between next summer and spring of 2019. I don't think we'll be waiting until summer or fall of 2019 or anything like that.

I've heard 18 months thrown around as well, so that's what, like late December, probably want to avoid a premier around the holidays, so maybe sometime mid to late January

Basically everything in King's Landing was great this episode and everything outside of it was meh to bad. Littlefinger's death was handled so poorly. It's frustrating. He was such a devious, interesting character, responsible for so much of what happened in the show, and yet the show gave him such a weak, lazy death. Did Arya & Sansa play him from the beginning or did they only just figure it out because they spoke to Bran or he spoke up on his own, maybe Sansa confronted Arya at some point and then they spoke to Bran, but when? Such sloppy writing and direction for them to conclude it with Littlefingers death. If the whole point was to ultimately kill him off they could have thought of hundreds of better ways to get to that point.

    Theon's scene was cringe-worthy.

But Cersei was absolutely phenomenal in every scene she was in this episode. Jamie and Tyrion too. Such a frustrating show at times because it can be so good and yet so... mishandled.

It's going to be a long wait for the final season.

I really want some more expanded universe stuff. This franchise could be fantasy's Star Wars. I know LotR is a more apt comparison structurally, but it's much more limited in scope due to the series being focused on one central event. I want GoT comics about lesser houses, spin-off books set in different periods, etc etc

If Bethesda do make that open world game - I'm all about it. That would be so fun.
