yea that definitely makes sense, TBH if they had rerecorded Nightmare and put it where no control is I don't think it would change my opinion of the record much. I'm glad we got No Control though and all new songs.

 

Mene is way better than IAAN.

 

so from Sapone's instagram post lit me up was recorded in Nashville, it probably replaced sealed to me as an opener. Both songs actually have a similar chord progression, which is probably why sealed to me didn't make the album. I think lit me up is a much better song.

yeah No Control is another one that sounds like it couldve been from the IAAN sessions, or at least stemmed from whatever it was that spurred the band to make a more straight up rock song. i think id agree that if IAAN were on the album it wouldnt have affected my opinion of it too much but it would still stick out like a sore thumb kind of

 

I agree, I just think people were worried they were going towards a more straight forward rock feel with nightmare and mene. This album.. doesn't thankfully doesn't do that ha.

agreed. id be ok with Mene being on this album to give it another kind of heavier track but its no biggie im happy with all the material we have

 

yea no control works bc the simplicity and its still sort of slower even if it has a driving 2 and 4 beat, it feels more like a 90s alt rock song than a faster punk feel

you can make a case for Mene being on here maybe towards the middle/end when some songs get a little heavier but IAAN would have been so out of place.

edit: happy though that no prior released songs made it on here

 

this album has so much 90s worship on it i love it. really everything post FOYD has had that 90s influence but this one just has that guitar tone and atmosphere that a lot of my favorite 90s records had

 

if Jesse had a solo career what song on here best represents the direction he would go in? Im guessing "Could never be heaven"

 

I was thinking about that. Is Jesse going to embark on a solo career. I think that's the first time I ever used the word embark

 

If he could make an album full of songs like it that are high quality i would love it, but i think best thing about it is that no other brand new song sounds like that.

 

people don't think he would ever be happy enough with anything to release it haha. probably true too

 

yea I'm not sure if sonically the songs would sound like that, but I'm thinking thats the vocal delivery he would use
