Yeah, if a game can't hook with 5 hours of gameplay, that game is not for me. If it can't do it in almost 2 hours, I'm quitting. I don't have enough time to dedicate to experiences that I don't enjoy with some vague hope it'll eventually click.

I have abandoned games after less than two hours because I did not like them, mostly games I bought on sale because I wasn't sure about them anyway. I sometimes get nervous about it though, because I did the same thing with Mass Effect 2 and Fallout New Vegas initially, which both became two of my all time favorites after I for some reason went back to them.

Hmm, see it's very, very rare that I come back to a game and enjoy it more. Maybe the only example would be Uncharted 1. Got a double pack of that and Uncharted 2 and abandoned it after an hour or two, and moved on to Uncharted 2. I only went back and completed Uncharted 1 after I had done 2 and 3, but I think it it had been a stand alone game, I probably would have left it.

Witcher 3 I put in 10 or so hours before initially giving up on it

Came back a year later and now it's maybe my favorite game ever

I gave up on Fallout 3 and sold it there year it came out. I then went back to it a few years later when I saw it for about £10 and it ended up being one of my favourite games on the PS3.

See, there you go. Like I said, in most cases 5 hours is really not enough time to truly absorb a game. Now, if you keep trying and it's not sticking, especially after 8-9 times, then it's really not meant to be.

JK. I have it for 360 but don't think that's what I'm in the mood for. Too long for me atm

This game was one of the first really hyped 360 launch games I remember. Then it got delayed, and overall didn't live up to said hype. The demo was great though

I beat, and put only 30-40 hours into my original Fallout 3 character, and thought it was just ok. Then 2 years later returned, and put 60 hours into it. It's probably one of my fav RPGs since.

Fallout 4 is a good game. Come at me

  15. But was it the game that changed, or was it you? "I came back and loved it" could either mean you just hadn't reached the point where the game got good, or your tastes changed by the time you returned to it, right?

For me with Fallout I didn't really play it correctly first time round and got into area's I was no way ready for too early, got pissed off and sold it. Basically I didn't really give it the time to learn what I needed to do in that game world and rushed it.

I liked Fallout 3 enough but never got super into it. New Vegas was what did it for me.

Bioshock would make an amazing walk about. I love Bioshock and Infinite but honestly I think I'd have more fun as a spectator just enjoying the world without having to deal with that combat :/

yeah, especially since i think the "decisions" have less teeth than they're sold as having (partly intentional, but that doesn't change much)
