Spun this for the first time at like 3am this morning, loved it. I really dig the mood of the whole record. Great blend of their previous work while still pushing forward into new sonic terrain, cool to pick out different parts of songs as being reminiscent of different records. A lot to digest, but excited to dig in!

 

Brand New - Real Science (2018)

 

Mene and IAAN are both fine songs - I probably enjoy Mene more - but I agree that this direction is so much better for them. Both of those songs are probably my least favorite things they've done since Deja, so even though I do enjoy them and will reach for them when I'm playing the discography, an album full of them would pretty easily be my least favorite since YFW.

I'd be ok with a b-sides album of material and demos they never put on albums. Then there's no pressure of "this is LP6"

but i doubt Brand New would release something like that

 

alright, I listened to deja again today and it's still pretty damn fantastic so I bought the LP. I am weak and a hypocrite carry on lol

 

Also I will be so incredibly happy if they get the #1 album. Even if they don't, selling 50,000 records is fucking awesome (and makes me look like less of an idiot for saying they could hit 75,000 lol)

 

I listened to YFW on the way to work today (never really dug into it much) and think the back half is pretty weak basically filler except for Soco and 70x7

Am I missing something?

i did the same thing. i'd add secondary and jude law but yea not an impressive album

 

Daisy only sold 46,000. Music sales are going down exponentially. Somehow, Brand New managed to sell more.

 

Secondary and Magazines are two of the worst Brand New songs and they're back to back

Kidding of course, but as a huge Yellowcard fan, Your Favorite Weapon is a better album then every Yellowcard album ever released.

 

I was thinking it would be better to have a nice lean 10 track (ala TAYF)

I asked for the LP for my birthday haha. I just got into collecting LPs last year so this will be my first Brand New LP (If I get it). If not, I'll probably just buy it myself soon.

 

Just popping in to say I love this fucking album. Every second. This is pure gold Jerry, gold! Haven't listened to anything else since Thursday. No idea when I will again.
