I think what we got was better but an album like that would have been great too

I wonder how different of an album we would have gotten last year. I'm glad they took their time to deliver this

A lot of them don't have scores tho right?

Is their a process that we can ensure this happens?

  5. I don't. I'm very relieved.

Vices starting after the intro stuff is easily one of the scariest musical moments I have ever experienced, I think I jumped the first 5+ times I heard it

    Maybe so, maybe not.

This traditionally doesn't matter on Metacritic. For example, they assign a rough estimate of a score for New Yorker movie reviews, which don't have scores per-se.

Great for any other band. After 8 years 10 songs of verse chorus verse pop-rock would not have satisfied.

idk if you remember this because it was like 3 years ago but you, zzarillo, and drew did a podcast about albums you were looking forward to in 2014 and you guys spent a solid 20 min discussing if BN would release something. you mentioned that someone in their camp had told you theyd recorded some songs with some huge hooks and were kinda poppy and how you wished you could hear them. did you ever get to? do you think IAAN is from those sessions or is it from a totally different more recent session? just curious, you know more than us lol

Same. I listened to them, but since I don't generally bother buying singles I have only ever heard them a couple times each. And I never felt like I was missing out by not listening to them a ton. They were just kind of there. They didn't pull me in. Thank god we got this abum instead. I'll probably buy those 2 now and enjoy them for what they are and be glad they are stand alone tracks at this point.

Both those songs are fantastic to me personally

  15. I think this album is light years better than those songs and it's not even close.

I personally think IAAN is really, really good.

But to be fair I like almost everything the band puts out from most studio albums to men to IAAN to Sealed to Me to Fork and Knife to the Christmas EP, ect, ect.

Like they rarely put out a bad song.

  17. The band going 5.5/5.5 is awesome. The misstep being some singles and some dated songs is a fantastic catalog. It cements them as the best rock band of my generation and I'm all about it.

This album is definitely a grower for me. Been listening to it here and there over the last few days and man - really great stuff.

Someone should email Metacritic about it, they're usually good with response

I think this album is absurdly far better than IAAN and a lot better than an album full of Mene type songs would be, but as a one off I don't think Mene is particularly outclassed by these songs, if that makes sense.

Ok tossed on mene. This and IAAN just feel so underdeveloped compared to everything on science fiction besides no control which I suspect is from those sessions

Honestly it's so sick that an album that we didn't know existed in its final form less than a week ago is about to top the charts

I'm so glad I got IAAN over Mene live. I love Mene but I think IAAN is quite a bit better.
