This article has been imported from chorus.fm for discussion. All of the forum rules still apply.

Hits Daily Double is projecting Brand New’s Science Fiction to do around 60k in its first week. If that holds, the album will open at number one:

Our projection, based on limited info, is 56-61k SPS, 55-60k album.

Brand New potentially having a number one album in 2017 is insane.

What they have built is truly amazing. I would absolutely KILL to get a Brand New documentary one day showing some insight into the minds of these guys. Or even what life was like for those 8 years between Daisy and Science Fiction.

Also, I wonder how long it will take for the clueless music media to write about this hip new band called "Brand New" taking the charts by storm, ha!

That's absolutely wild. I'm sure there are a million and one reasons we're not privy as to why they're planning to end it in 2018 but having their new album go number 1 and playing some of the biggest venues of their career must make it tempting to keep going.

who needs marketing lead up? Not Brand New. I doubt this includes all the sales from their website.

Did this ever end up on Spotify? If they can go #1 without one of the major streaming services, that would be even more impressive than it already is.

Spotify/streaming will be a very limited number of the total tally. At least 90% of their sales will be from people buying the album/vinyl/download. In fact that projection is showing 1k from streaming (SPS sales inlcudes sales counting streaming, so the 56-61k; the album sales is just direct purchase, showing 55-60k.)

Really impressive. No lead up or anything... unless you count the 8 year build up after Daisy.

Let's get these people moving faster!

It is entertaining to see how fast the listen totals are rising every time I open spotify. Even though I know that won't accumulate to much of the charts total, I'm rarely listening to anything that hits these totals ever, let alone in less than the first week.
