He's slamming it for being structured rock but...that's what his entire career is built on

    Who's Aaron Gillespie?

Also, is "Oasis" meant to be a slanderous comparison? I mean it doesn't sound like them at all (Maybe I could see the instrumentation on Waste being on Dig Out Your Soul), but Oasis are life.

I enjoy No Control but it's easily my least favorite on the album. All the songs tale me places and make me think "wow, they really just did that" but No Control doesn't have any moments like that for me. I enjoy it though.

He mentioned only the alien. It's a good stretch but to say there's been nothing like it before is absolutely crazy.

No. He's pulling out the "it's good but it's not groundbreaking" argument and mentioned Oasis. I was taking the piss.

The drummer of Underoath, think he played for Paramore for a while too.

Ok woah yea let's not start bringing Manchester Orchestra down now, they're both beautiful albums, and the Alien through Grocery is truly amazing stuff.

But I'm really not sure what he expected was going to happen when he went after Brand New. Can't help but feel he's being condescending. But hey he's still a good dude so I'll allow him this.

I wasn't bringing anything down. The Alien, the song, is not new and an artist saying it's something they've never heard before is baffling.

Two acts I have no interest in either. I should ask people on twitter to explain them to me and then dismiss them anyway to get some attention.

I love both albums (I feel like i need to preface this each time) but this is definitely more experimental than Manchester, and that is just fine.

I think the alien is a really original song, but to me songs like the wolf and lead, as are what makes that Manchester record essential. And you better damn believe both of these records are essential and together are a great pair of rock records that we were lucky to get back to back.

One doesn't have to be better than the other, can't they both be fucking incredible

Love Aaron Gillespie and what he's done with both Underoath and his early solo stuff. With that said, he's got a very bad take on this new album.

I think this is a very experimental album for Brand New, and not necessarily an experimental album in general, but that doesn't make it any less great. All I know is that for some reason I can't stop listening to it. The thing about Aaron's comments is that he clearly didn't care to actually understand, so I don't see the point in asking about a band with a rabid fan base why they like a record. I'd respect him more if he simply said, "I don't like the Brand New album" or something like that. Asking someone to articulate why this album is incredible is asking the impossible, it's subjective.
