Logan, soco, sudden death all much better songs than no seatbelt imo. Believe it or not I'm getting bored of yfw talk though

Yes...but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts

It's awesome and interesting that our favorite songs vary so much; mark of a masterpiece.

the only think I really care about when it comes to yfw is hoping they don't play mixtape next time I see them

Literally every single album is like that. Every one. And every thread has this exact comment in it.

Man, I wish October would come faster. Having to wait for the Vinyl and CD is torture

I really hope they play it the next time I see them. That would be a dream come true :)

    forbidden chalice.

Also, Brand New is my favorite band and I absolutely loathe YFW. Soco is a brilliant song and is my favorite closer from the band (until now, who knows) and I really do like Failure By Design. I dislike the juvenile mentality the record possesses and how it uses its often times aggressive/misogynistic/spiteful lyrics to convey a message. Jesse's lyrics are stellar when he hates himself, not when he hates others. Yes, there are songs like Maradona and even Desert that give across unnerving vibes, but the difference is that I think that Brand New was not a point in their career where they could write a song to convey awareness of a specific problem (sexual abuse/religious homophobia). Instead, it feels like the song really is about wanting ill of another person because of x reasons.

Because of this, songs like Jude Law and Seventy Times Seven make me dreadfully uncomfortable. His tongue-in-cheek lyricsm isn't as great as it is now, so whenever I listen to YFW, I feel the same way I do about modern pop-punk bands/lyricism and how I'm turned away from it.

And honestly, I think I grew away from the type of music that the era brought. I still love pop punk, such as Yellowcard, TWY, and Fireworks, but if there's not a good or reflective message behind it, I'm left uninterested. I do respect what the band put out as a debut, but I have further respect on them being able to take risks and mature as songwriters and people.

It's less where it falls in their discog and more that it's not unreasonable to call it your favorite...it's a very good Brit rock album and the idea that that's inherently lesser than its more inventive counterparts is bs

Well Brand new is one of the best bands with some of the best albums of all time so it's only natural people will find different favorites when literally every song is so good.

No guarantee that this would have happened, but I really wish they would have released this album a year ago so one of the songs could have had the chance to be in The Leftovers.

Honestly - is that John Nolan on In The Water during the bridge? It sounds like him. I can't get my mind around it. Anyone hear it?

I remember a while back after Daisy came out someone compared each album to one of the five stages of grief. Don't necessarily agree with that beyond the fact that grief is sort of staple element in most of the albums buuut, this album would be acceptance for sure; case and point, Batter Up.

I almost saw Brand New at Summer Ends Festival in Arizona in 2015 and I'm so mad I ended up not going because they played Seventy Times 7 and Mix Tape :(

They also played Brothers at that show :(

The two times I've seen Brand New live I would pray nothing from YFW would come up because my knowledge of the lyrics was laughably bad. It's such a momentum killer to be screaming along to degauser and then have to awkwardly nod along to some basic pop punk.

Also, is it weird that everyone who knew those songs was wearing the same ADTR black tank and a snapback?

The one time I saw Brand New this is exactly how I felt but about some of the Daisy songs. Didn't know the lyrics well enough unlike DE, DAG, and IAAN

I will be v v v sad if I go to the final tour and there's no Soco

I would also probably pay extra to not hear Daisy songs though so
