Missed the show. Any crazy setlist changes, or the same as their European dates?

  3. Truly is GOAT, perfect 10 album. I've never seen Alk3 live, which is embarrassing to say.

I'm lucky that when I saw them headline live the first time, they happened to play a majority of Good Mourning live, despite Agony & Irony being their most recent release.

The Past Live shows were the fucking best. I can't believe how long it's been since I've seen them

Good Mourning is definitely their best. Infirmary is close though.

    RIP EmoPunkKid28: 2002-2016 Prestigious

First saw them at a radio show in Boston with anberlin, Flogging Molly, and one other band. Also saw them on the coheadliner with NFG. Was bummed out at that show because they all seemed checked out. Would still see them again, though

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I still think FHTI is their best album.

Count me in for the Good Mourning is GOAT crowd. I can never tire of that album. Granted, like Bob from Office Space does with Michael Bolton, I celebrate the entire catalog. But GM is perfect.

From Here To Infirmary is their best imo, Good Mourning is the beginning of their decline

Good Mourning is peak Alk3 for me. I've probably said it like 10 times in the last 10 pages of this thread that the combo of weird production on the bass/drums, Matt's voice being shot out, and the lyrics/song writing and juxtoposition between Matt's somber songs and Dan's happier lyrics and melodies on some of them just came together to form a perfect storm of awesomeness.

I use Good Mourning as my favorite example when someone asks me what a winter album sounds like.

the ships have all sailed to the sea

Agreed completely. That album never leaves my rotation. To me it's part of an (un)holy trinity with From Here to Infirmary and Maybe I'll Catch Fire, where all three of those albums strike the perfect balance of their darkness, wittiness, and catchiness. I love all of their albums, but those three really encapsulate their sound.

Can you please explain this opinion? I haven't heard someone say this before and I am genuinely interested. Thanks.

  21. The only decline they really had was This Addiction, and that still had some good tunes on it.

Even though I like individual songs on Agony & Irony, as well as This Addiction, I would say those were both dips from their best material. I thought Shame rebounded well, personally.

Checking in with one of the other things i've probably said 10 times in the last 10 pages of this thread, but A&I is probably my 2nd favorite of theirs...yeah it was a step away from their sound and into radio alt-rock of the time, but fuck they did it soooo good.

Dan especially was top notch on that album and in his b-sides. The only one I really really disliked from that album was Live Young Die Fast.

THough when I say it's my 2nd favorite, I feel like that rotates between FHTI and MSIT

I thought A&I was just sort of there. There were songs I liked, but overall I just thought it was ok. And that's a bummer for a band you really dig. I was totally fine with them going more "accessible" for lack of a better word. The record just didn't hit me right.

  25. I actually love how polished A&I is. The only song I really skip on it is " Ruin It ". I'd be lying if I said " Calling All Skeletons " wasn't a banger of an opener.
