I don't know if I'll be able to replay as many songs from this over and over again the way I can songs from TDAG, IMO....that's the downside to the low key moody melodic songs sometimes.

But I def think it's fair to say that the song writing is at least on par with TDAG

It's my on the go/on my computer at work/home go to for sure. I mainly buy LPs and just put the digital download card somehwere or leave it in the sleeve, Spotify kind of elimates the need to always redeem.

Is anyone getting a 1940s ideology and experience from this album? May be a bit a bit off base but with the way Jesse is portraying the main characters in his writing.. it seems in that era.

Not to mention the exerpts from the psychiatric interviews.

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

100%. Especially the wash of background keys during the chorus.

  8. We're talking about the four lines that begin with "Boy..." here right? With regards to Vin singing lead that is

Yeah, that has to be him. Jesse is harmonizing.

Same Logic to Desert is like a strong contender for their best stretch of songs right

Desert is sitting in a sort of weird place for me right now. I think it's a great song, but it's a challenging song, and even after 9 or so times listening to it I'm still adapting to the challenge, if that makes sense. I knows it going to click, and when it does it will probably become a favorite, but I'm still waiting on that moment.

I feel kind of dumb that I never pick up on the meanings of songs, like listening through 4 times with headphones and lyrics I haven't picked up on Same Logic being about cutting. Only picked up on easy stuff like the "no reset" line being about getting this one life and that's it.

I got the cutting thing right away, I thought that one was pretty obvious...I never pick up on the "deeper" stuff tho someone else always points it out before me.

Once in a while I get lucky and notice something tho.

I agree with you. I initially thought waste was about a husband/wife who are in a forced relationship at this point. They had better days but now they're stuck in a marriage. Didn't realize it was about a parent/son drug addiction issue until a couple listens. Wow.

Ha reading the Same Logic lyrics just now and yeah it's pretty obvious that the first verse is about cutting. Idk that the next part conveys that as much but yeah I guess that one is clear

I think the remainder of the song (even the beginning) is all in the perspective of the main character. It's essentially the main character having a conversation with him/herself.

I started with TDAG but I still love Deja. I can't stand YFW though. Not even sure I've ever gotten all the way through it. Pretty sure in concert is the only time I've heard Soco

this reminds me a lot of Pale Horses not so much musically but just how deep both albums go into apocalyptic imagery mixed with biblical parables and metaphors.

  25. Vin got a lot better/different at guitar in the last eight years
