The intro to Batter Up gives me chills

 

I've only listened to Science Fiction twice so far (going on a walk soon to listen to it again), but I'm really digging it. I read that AltPress article about the different connections to other songs and what not - a lot of it is a stretch, but I'm hoping that as the album is out for a bit we can actually dig deeper into connections with the other albums. This album definitely has some call backs, both lyrically and musically. I can't wait to listen more and go more in depth.

As an aside, I'm more concerned than ever for Jesse's mental health. Hopefully he's doing okay even though it doesn't sound like he is.

 

I think the bulk of this record is "in character" if you will...

I feel like if it really is about WOW then I am really disconnected from everyone because when I saw the title I just thought, "oh is this about D&D? lol" I don't know if the song is really about that, maybe it's some sort of metaphor? Idk for what thought.

Oh it definitely is. I was just hoping that after hearing some other track that were released previously before this album (i.e. "I am a Nightmare") that his lyrics would still be dark but have some light to them. A lot of these lyrics don't seem to have that sort of light, if that makes sense. It makes for great music that I love, but to me he seems to be getting worse in terms of mental health. I don't know him at all personally, so this is obviously conjecture on my part.

One of the weaker songs on the album but I still enjoy it personally
