Same goes for me and FOB, so I don't doubt you at all. Cool that two bands that seem so different from each other, FOB and MM, can be seen as legitimate influences on this track

 

Man, how I am supposed to order these 5 Deja Songs that are perfectly as good as each other. So hard coming up with a Brand New top 20

 

I've seen multiple different people cite Fall Out Boy when listening to that song but I don't see it personally. However, I haven't listened to a FOB album since Thanks For the Memories so I really have no clue what I'm talking about.

 

the hook just has instant bombast and anthemic qualities about it, and Jesse singing in a very tipsy, semi-swung manner, a lot of quasi-southern intonations that remind me of Patrick's style at times. i guess that'd be more American Beauty / American Psycho era. Maybe i'm making this up, very well could be the case

 

Nah, I believe you. Like I said I haven't listened to a Fall Out Boy album in years so if it's more so in that era I don't doubt you.

 

music is like wine because technically we're all right but we could also all stand to shut up about it every now and then

 

On that note, I'm thankful this site exists. For as popular as music is there's like no one I immediately know that I can discuss it with. Like if I were to ask anyone I know what their favorite albums from this year were, they probably haven't heard any

I was talking to my buddy today how 451 reminded me of folie a deux era FOB. One of my favorites thus far

 

Currently listening to I am a Nightmare for the first time in a while.

I understand why this song got backlash, but frick man it's so so so good!

 

I can't believe how crazy this week has been, honestly. Just last week, I was telling myself Brand New would never release LP5 and I was okay with that. And then, they release this magnificent album and I'm not sure how to react! A few thoughts: I love the twang and folk feel many songs have, I hear a lot of R.E.M. and Modest Mouse but also hints to the rest of their discography. I love the little easter eggs, like "take your head apart" in Waste, "at the bottom of the ocean", (Float On reference in Waste as well!!) etc. I still need to listen to this a lot more but it's the best of TDAG, Daisy and Deja and they've still re-invented themselves again. This album is insanely good, I'll write all about it soon, after I listen to it some more and my thoughts aren't as jumbled!

 

It all happened so quickly that if someone were away from the internet for a day or two for whatever reason they could have missed it all. I kind of wish I wasn't following it as it happened and just stumbled upon a Brand New album I had never heard

 

Screw it, Could Never Be Heaven is a top 10 Brand New song

 

I'm glad I was following it as it happened. Now I have memories that will last a lifetime.

 

the main frame of reference i have for "451" is recent arctic monkeys/qotsa

 

I have to be up in like 5 hours, and all I want to do is listen.

well sit on down here on my knees you ol whippersnappers, that was (i believe) jan/feb 2009 sometime. can't remember. those days were insane when i was too into blink 182 and so much was happening. the way everyone found out they were reuniting, that david kennedy AvA leak thread (how did it leak that they were getting back together again?) hit like 10k, the grammys one was nuts, haha, neighborhoods came out, we mourned blink 182, so on and so forth

that whole year was spent heavily on ap. things were simpler back then, and i'm being surprisingly sincere when I say that

 

100%. Glad I'm not the only one haha. Once the main groove comes in it's almost instinctual for me to sing, "I've got the Dungeon Master's guide."

 

Ah nice, that sounds really fun!

Blink-182 is my favorite band of all time so you had me intrigued.
