7 years also a Katie Flynn reference? She was 7 years old and they say it 7 times, also limousine they stop at 7 loves you so much

    Maybe so, maybe not.

I really haven't read most of the thread but...the intro to this album is legitimately unsettling. It sets the tone for everything that follows SO well.

    Hahaha. Chicago.

But I think it is a false alarm. Just remembered I ordered something like a month ago that never arrived. I'm sure it is that and not anything awesome.

Sigh. Ah well. It was exciting while it lasted.

    Things have changed.

No kidding. How about the beginning of "Waste"? The end of "No Control"?

It's just all so damn creepy.

Been through this three times now, surprised how much I love it. I expected good, but this is probably the happiest I've been with a release of theirs since the demos leaked.

Now that I've got a good feel for all the songs, gotta say I really don't care for Desert. Would axe that one in a second. And 451 sounds like beer commercial music to me tbh but I kinda dig it. The rest of the album is straight fire, one goofy ass Vin vocal aside.

No Control makes me so fuckin happy every time, it's everything I loved about this band when I reaaaally loved them, somehow reformatted to fit perfectly among the rest of these songs.

We reach for the longest shadow

i was listening to Tool's Lateralus when i was 12 so this isnt scary to me, but i love the vibe of it.

Now Code Orange's new album is some of the creepiest stuff i've heard in music in a while.

Well this is unfair because now I'm personally invested in what's getting mailed to your house, because if it IS the cd, that means they'v made it to Chicago and there's actually a chance one has made it to my doorstep.

"at the bottom of the ocean fish won’t judge you by your faults" - luca / at the bottom

Hahaha i thought vinny's lyrics were "balls" and not faults. He says it like Zappa so I had to assume.

Omfg could u imagine? I actually thought the cover art was gonna be the graphic on the tour announcement - but that would've been pretty disappointing considering how stellar all their cover art had been - and now seeing the actual cover art, it's just perfect!

    from the Billboard review:

"As the dirge plods along, you can sense longtime listeners clenching their jaws, bracing for impact from the massive, out-of-nowhere chorus -- or at least the loud part -- but unlike "Sowing Season (Yeah)," "Bed," "Tommy Gun," and so much of Brand New's catalog before it, the moment never comes. "

ummm... when does that moment come in "Bed"??? maybe ive been listening to the wrong version of bed for the past 8 years........

another funny quote from the billboard review:

"He even tests the boundaries of his typical overwroughtness with some actual absurdity; at the 2:44 mark on "Same Logic/Teeth," he runs a whole ridiculous line -- "At the bottom of the ocean, fish won't judge you for your faults" -- through a loony, pitch-dropped vocal effect that could pass for a cartoon fish or, in indie rock terms, the most deranged moment of recent-era Modest Mouse. In the middle of an album like this, you're inclined to just go with it. "

"ridiculous line"???? its a reference... also it is almost certainly Vinnie
