The interludes are so creepy on this record. The entire record just has these creepy vibes that I love

But typically those people have had the album at least weeks, and in this case everyone's getting it at the same time. At this point people should know if they want to check out a Brand New album or not.

I'm from Cleveland, my buddy who also loves Brand New lives there and we still text about music pretty frequently. I'd love to move out to the PNW though.

I can't echo this enough. It reminds me of when I first got into Brand New and I was genuinely petrified of TDAG and thought it was some sort of cursed medium. I was afraid to play the album in a room alone or at night and I would never dare listen to Sowing Season or Limousine when my parents were driving in fear of getting into a car crash myself.

Funny how it has become my favorite record.

    Before the garden
    When you were all alone
    You made the atom
    Was that some inside joke

again another clever, dark, yet kinda funny lyric. this idea that god named Adam after the atom which would eventually be the catalyst for one of the most destructive forces we've ever seen in the form of atomic weaponry while in most Christian theologies Adam and Eve are viewed as being a destructive force themselves, ruining paradise and condemning us all to sin. thats pretty god damn clever @ Jesse

    Newbie

After 8 years, this record is not only the perfect way to tie a bow on an almost-perfect career, but I think it is a pretty clear & direct explanation for their behavior over the past few years and why they're finally hanging it up.

I think the lyrics, in combination with the note mailed with CDs yesterday (presumably from Jesse), basically point to Jesse saying he's exhausted from wrestling with himself, worn out from living under the shadow of the band / hype, and ready to explore what could possibly be in store for his life on the other side of this chapter.

He's made it pretty clear that he struggles with committing to things artistically, trying to make things perfect and never moving forward b/c he just can't get out what he's trying to say -- and he feels guilt with himself for being tied up with this and holding the rest of the band back.

If you listen to the record with the context of the band finally calling it quits, and listening to the record as an explanation why.....this album not only makes perfect sense, but "I am a nightmare" and "mene" start to fit in the story of the overall band as well.

I've got more thoughts & details on this, specific lyrics that explain the narrative, etc... but this is the best I could articulate it for now.

    Things have changed.

The other band did not have permission from the artist to use the photo. So they were likely not aware of this other band's existence and use of the photo.
