    missing out

Your friends are all imaginary, your shrink stopped answering her phone
So you decide to make incisions at your home while you’re alone, all alone
But you’re no tailor, you’re no surgeon, none of your cuts go very straight
Every new layer you uncover reveals something else you hate

the lyrics on this album are hitting me the same way they did the first time I heard DAG. I should go to bed but i can't stop listening

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Three listens so far, and it's honestly still leaving me pretty speechless. I expected it to be a solid album, but man, they really outdid themselves on this. What an incredible album to go out on.

I love that I don't yet know this record well enough to recall exactly what someone is talking about when they bring up a specific moment that resonated with them. I want to get to know it gradually, like how Andy had to go on thirty dates with Catherine Keener before doing the $exy

Just everything about this, is...perfect. I've listened 3 times now. Once, just listening. Once, while reading the lyrics. Once, driving. It's beautiful. The callbacks to old albums,Jesse's voice (especially that little part at the end of the first refrain of "Could never be heaven") ,Vinnie, the dissonance, the guitar tones, the hooks, the melodies, the lyrics, the production, that big key change somewhere near the end of the album, the arrangements with all of the brass and harmonicas, the fucking drums, the way it ends with a quote, "That was it right there, thats what we were waiting for" . It's like a puzzle that I'm gonna have fun piecing together. I really enjoy the lyrics that seem to be about the hesitance to rush this album on "In the water" and how it ends with a callback to daisy then repeats "7 years" over and over again reminding me about how this took so long. I love the little acoustic low-fi love song after "out of mana" ends. I love that I hear a little bit of "Sealed to me" at the end of "Teeth". "137" is this albums Limousine with the best guitar work thus far on any Brand New album.
Can we just talk about how after 4 criminally adored albums and 4 sound reinventions and years of fans waiting for one more album, how astronomically high the pressure was and how high the chance was that this album wouldn't live up to it.
    It did.
Brand New is deserving of their praise.
    Thrilled with this.

The guitar in 137 is eargasmic. Some of the best guitar in recent memory.

  22. I just spent probably 20 minutes liking most of @sophos34 posts trying to catch up in this thread after listening but I just don't think it's possible. Regardless, I had a wonderful first listen with my brother and a couple Chorus users. I never anticipated having a Brand New album this chill/tamed but it honestly feels like a movie ending. Beautiful and fitting. Can't wait to see what comes with the limited vinyl package.

love the little sample at the end of "lit me up" that reminds me of twin peaks

and then the whistling at the beginning of "can't get it out" make for a wild, weird little five seconds of music
