That song seems to me to be an eerily accurate prediction of "artists" in the "scene" that used their "feelings" to justify taking advantage of people, particularly women. It's pretty clear he's not justifying anything, just using a perspective.

 

Could Never Be Heaven reminds me of the Smiths. God, this is such a special album

 

Maybe they'll throw the album out there that they scrapped because why not DO IT

 

reminds you of the smiths more than Simon & Garfunkel?
