and/or the album is just not very good despite having a talented guy like Fazzi on it.

    Corrected :-p

I could have swore I heard people say in the most recent tours they have randomly played Lonely Lonely and Swing. I don't think you bust those out or EMG if you hate that album.

    Again, entitled to their opinion.

    Per setlist.fm, which obviously isn't 100% accurate...

Lonely, Lonely was last played in 2013 and Swing was 2010. They have played EMG a good bit. It's like the one song on there people all agree on.

Maybe the band throws one out every few years to appease the NA fans? Nothing here indicates the feelings on the album have shifted at all.

Here are the New Again songs they have played since John and Shaun have returned!

EDIT: That list doesn't have Everything Must Go, because we had been discussing what other New Again songs have been played since John and Shaun returned. They seem to play Everything Must Go fairly often. Although not last night >:-(

So yeah...in the past 4 or so years they really haven't touched the album except for Everything Must Go on occasion.

I didn't bother checking all of those, just the 2 first mentioned above. But yea, this further proves my point of their feelings on the album have not changed over the years.

Could you imagine if they had John, Fred and Fazzi all on guitar with backing vocals? A dream.

Although that could be a little too much lol.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

I mean, you're not wrong haha the question after that though is, does Shaun stay on the bass or does Rubano come back? or do they both play bass?? haha 3 guitars, 2 bassists.

I was just bored a few days ago so I looked them all up then. Since it just came up in discussion I figured I'd toss that out there.

Yeah...with them not playing much New Again material recently and with a couple new albums of material now in their catalog, I doubt we see much New again stuff in the future.

Hm. Shawn seems like such a nice guy and have loved the songs he's put out with the band since his return.....but we dotn need 2 bass players and Rubano had the grooves and energy lol.

TBS currently plays with 3 guitar players, one is just touring I think so it's not too much of a stretch.

Can confirm Shaun is a super nice guy, he and I had a nice chat after their show in Lancaster, Pa on the Tidal Wave tour. It's a tough call b/c from a technical standpoint, Rubano is the better player, both have great energy, and Shaun's parts (post reunion) are good and he plays Rubano's parts well too.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be in charge of that decision. I'd just keep brining people ice cream instead and changing the subject.

Really late to the production discussion but it just dawned on me this morning while listening to new again how great the bass is on that album. Good timing.

has Eddie re-joined the band yet on the road? I don't want to dig up this discussion again but at this point it's super weird to me that the band hasn't acknowledged it, unless they have on stage at shows.

    That's the line-up I've seen the most (Fred)...Saw them two times in 2004 then 2005 & 2006. So good.

EDIT: Actually, I haven't seen that line-up the most, I've seen the original (2nd time around) line-up the most. But still.

He wasn't with them yesterday, odd for sure especially since every time they play Cleveland they mention how it's practically a hometown show for Eddie

It's funny to hear him saying bad things about New Again, because I remember Eddie saying before its release "It's a heavier Tell All Your Friends"

New again a heavier TAYF? I'd say those are the two most dissimilar albums in their discography. Well, after TBS vs anything else.

All their albums are pretty different to me. I'd say Louder Now and Self Titled are the closest in sound, but even that's a stretch.

I think each definitely has a very distinct sound but if I had to pair the closest I'd say HI-TD. I think TW is a more Americana/rock-y HI. Next I'd wanna say WYWTB-LN. They have a similar aesthetic, id say LN is a more aggressive WYWTB.

Interesting, I've always seen LN as a pretty big departure from the sound on WYWTB. The instrumentals on LN are more riff focused with a heavier tone, while the songs on WYWTB feel like they were build more around chord progressions than riffs. I think if there was another album that sounds the most similar to WYWTB instrumentally it's probably HI. Songs like Flicker, Fade, Beat Up Car, and Better Homes really remind of the sound they had on WYWTB.

Agree on the riffing/chord progression point, but that I think is part of the aggression I mentioned. What really links them to me is that LN is the last album to heavily rely in Adam's more wail-y, really forceful choruses. That's what mainly kinda defines that early TBS sound for me. TAYF has em too but I think WYWTB is just leagues better than most of TAYF instrumentally. LN and WYWTB just sound so much more tight and focused.

IMO here's how TBS's album rank in terms of production:

    TW
    WYWTB/HI
    NA
    LN
    S/T
    TAYF

I know LN and S/T were produced by Eric Valentine, I ended up ranking it that way only because Fred & Rubano are the more skilled musicians (Not that John and shaun are bad b/c they're obviously not) and it shows.
