One thing that's come out of doing this compilation is that I have a new found respect for Chester's vocal range. Definitely stopped me in my tracks a few times trying to emulate them for my cover. I had to strip Iridescent right back to get my vocal power (or lack thereof) to fit in with the music.

 

I used to let the key thing hold me back from these comps. Everyone is so accepting though I don't worry on it anymore!

 

I've done songs in different keys before, no one seems to mind at all. My cover of Zombie is a whole step down. The secret song I did is a half-step down because I couldn't do it in it's usual key without sounding too strained.

 

I play in different keys often... Build Me Up Buttercup was 3 steps higher. Didn't look into changing keys this time and I'm regretting it now.

 

I generally never do my covers as they were written. So I get it.

Trying to see if my friend zac wants to help me out. I know he's gearing up to go on tour with some mewithoutyou band so idk. Otherwise I bit off more than I can chew.

 

So when are we doing the next originals compilation? Doing covers are really fun, but I feel like we get to see people really shine when we do the originals mixtape.

 

Yeah I agree, think it's time and I love seeing what people create.

Need to bow out- wedding planning is taking up more time than I thought. Yes I know how foolish that sounds.

Also bowing out. Had this about halfway done but now I'm getting sent out of town for work and won't have time to finish this

 

Mine will probably be submitted at the very end of day Saturday. I got the drums, bass and rhythm guitar down, just gotta find time to redo the vocals and add lead guitar

 

I'm gonna pull out. I might do something else, just gotta make a song for my rock opera my main priority

 

In The End is done I think. I'll send it in by saturday.

Well, I'm glad I got mine in early then. I wouldn't have been able to conjure up anything otherwise. Been super busy this last week.

 

I'm almost done I swear. I just need to redo the vocals.....which could take either 4 minutes or 40 hours.

 

I've finished my song too. Haven't sent it in yet as I've been doing some tinkering on it throughout the week.

Unfortunately I didn't find time to fix up the vocals, so I had to put a smidge of autotune on the chorus. Still hear some voice cracks which I'm bummed about.

Can I give you a bit of advice, never focus on your weaknesses when creating anything. No ones perfect. Art should be non-attachment and no one usually notices half the flaws you do.
