If IAAN is the worst song on the new record (if it’s on it) then we’re in the clear. If it’s the best, well... not so much.

Out of IAAN, Mene, Sealed to Me...Mene is my favorite but I think that'd be the least likely to make the album because it was released two years ago and I'm pretty sure Jesse said that was a song that had been laying around unfinished since the TDAG era. So in that instance, it's pretty old. I think they just released that song in 15 to get some excitement surrounding their tour at the time.

I think IAAN is OK, not great, not bad. Only have heard live Sealed to Me. Again, to me, not great, not bad but I'd reserve total judgement until I heard studio version.

I'm thinking mene and I am a nightmare will not be on the record to be honest. Think they will be all new songs on LP 5. I feel like they were just released as individual songs but who knows. We shall see.

It is cool to witness this band's fan base's craziness for the first time. Became a fan in 2014ish a year after I graduated hs. It's just really shocking that a band that has only released 4 albums (all last decade), and only 2 of them, really, are "great", can still develop this much intense hysteria. Idk. Just an observation from a new brand new fan. I like it all

Give me some recommendations. Is Julien Baker putting something out this year because that would be great.

IAAN is probably the worst song they've released since Deja, but it's still decent. I do hope it's excluded from the album, though.

I'll take IAAN over at least half of Daisy.

Edit: Okay but for real though:

IAAN >>>> Daisy up until 'Sink' onward, and around half of YFW

It's fine, but as far as Brand New songs go it's certainly underwhelming. I much prefer Mene.

I absolutely love a majority of the songs on Daisy, but the songs I do not like I actually very strongly dislike. As in, I find no redeeming qualities to them whatsoever. None. I'd be down to shell out too much money on some kind of Daisy reissue, like a 10th anniversary edition, with studio versions of some of the songs they recorded but didn't make the cut. I have a feeling it would be really interesting to see what kind of songs didn't make the cut, especially when you look at something like Be Gone making the cut, a song I love but can completely see what people are saying when they criticize it.

The only one I can find the name of now is Lazy, a song written by Brian Lane, but the wiki page does also mention around 35 tracks being demoed and recorded before narrowing it down to 15 finalists and then the ultimate 11. The way they recorded for a year though make me think there are more than just those 15 tracks completed.

I am really hoping that none of the songs we have already heard are on this new album. Not because they aren't good, more just so this entire album is a surprise. It would also make the scrapping and delaying and all of that nonsense make a little sense if this is an entirely new thing.

Add Tyler Childers to that list if you like Jason Isbell, I think TC wins Americana Album of the year over Isbell.
