kidding aside i am kinda excited about this even if im also very much over this band aside from TDAG and the demos.

 

i was wondering about the possibility that this could be a double LP or even longer just given how expensive it is. that'd be a really cool "hey thanks for waiting" gift lol

 

lol cmon being negative in a thread is fine even a hype thread but don't get indignant when called on it

 

The fans do honestly kill the band for me. For the last several years I've had the stance that I really don't care if they ever release anything again, and now that it's been semi-announced I still don't feel much differently. Since I do like some of their work, I could see myself being interested in this if there weren't an absurd level of commotion every time they do anything or Zack Zarrillo tweets or whatever, but it's exhausting and has caused me to adopt the standpoint that I'd rather it just all go away. Then I come across as the boo bird... but man, it's tiring.

 

The bar is certainly really high, I personally would like to see them go in a lighter direction, somewhere between devil and god and the demos maybe?

 

If it's fine, then why would I get called on it?

 

I don't think you are the only one who feels that way. A lot of people were really tired of them after last year. I always thought it happens when it happens there is so much amazing music out there that if the album never comes I will be fine

 

I hope this turns out to be the case.

 

Yeah, I totally agree with that mindset and that's why I never understood people waiting around in the BN thread every day for something to happen. There's so much music out there, I can't imagine being so hung up on one band and missing out on all that.

 

It's a discussion board, dissenting opinions tend to provoke discussion? Called on it implies a negative, I don't mean that. But if you're a solitary negative opinion in a thread where everyone is mostly celebrating, it's kinda unreasonable imo to assume anyone who presses for further comment a fanboy (which to be fair is coming more from those taking your side, which is silly in itself to call either a side).

Fwiw I think brand new fans are kinda ridiculous too and the band themselves have put out their fair share of average to bad music

 

Sure, that all makes sense. Personally, I was getting more indignant vibes from fans in here as if it's not acceptable that I have anything negative to say, that's where my responses are coming from.

 

Like, if not it just seems blatantly exploitative to me, idk. I get that this band has the reputation for messing with their fans and all, but I wouldn't really say anything they've done has quite crossed into that territory for me.

 

My guess is there's some sort of photobook or something, no way it's just a standard vinyl at that price.

 

I'm now getting excited for no reason because Im now wondering what the packaging is or if it is a double album.

It's definitely not a double album, well I would be REALLY surprised if it was

 

Never say never. 8 years could yield a lot of tracks.

I guess I'll settle for a 15 track epic. :)

 

Yeah I think people are setting themselves up to be disappointed. It's probably going to be 180 gram, possibly spread between 2LPs, with a better booklet. That alone gets you in the 40$ ballpark.

It could be haha. I'm sure there's enough material written over 8 years that could have been polished enough for two albums. Maybe one lp celebrating life, with happy songs and upbeat, then one that's about death.

Yeah, this isn't happening lol.

I just want the whole album to arrive at some point, just randomly we get everything at once and experience the whole thing as a singular piece of art. Completely out of the blue

 

Thanks to my friend and his 02 priority account I now have tickets for myself and my girlfriend for brand new in Glasgow. Hero is an understatement for that man. Haha.

 

Does anyone know if there are presale codes for New York date yet? I've found out they're playing the day I fly into New York from Scotland. It seems like fate so I'm going to try get tickets.

 

You really think IAAN is one of their best tracks? I personally can't stand it. Never listen to it.
