    what a waste of wood

Indeed it did. LCD booked a fest just like this and got cancelled for the same reason. There probably wasn't enough demand.

    Oh well.

What a snooze of an album, and I absolutely loved the self-titled

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

    This album is still fantastic.

The dude doesn't like an album, what a dumb thing to get all hostile about

    That's not hostile lol.

I thought "lmao yikes" was pretty unnecessary. Like, okay, glad you disagree?

This is such a dense, thoughtout record that I think reducing it to "boring" is lazy. I'm not mad at anyone's dissenting opinion, I just wish more negative opinions on this website had more thought put into them.

didn't mean to sound hostile, just a knee jerk reaction

maybe one day it will click!

    Anyways,

I think we're getting new music this week. We'll see.

    Here's my negative hot-take:

I'm in love with the other two records but this one doesn't do much for me. It's because the songs don't mean as much to me. The mixing of peace and aggression is interesting, and I find the sampling of other musicians to be a cool little idiosyncrasy, but that doesn't translate into a more emotional record for me. It's also not all that unique (hip-hop has been doing that for way longer). I appreciate this album musically because you can tell Justin really experimented with it and pushed his own limits, but the other two records simply connect with me on a personal level-- I find the songwriting structures more compelling and the lyrics poetic at once yet deeply relatable. I rarely listen to this album, but maybe it'll click someday like @zmtr said.

    Very well said.

I get not connecting the songs on 22AM as well. That's just something that differs from person to person.

What I certainly don't get is when people call this album less emotional or even void of emotion. Not saying you said that, but it comes up often. Nothing in the discography hits me like 715 does (especially live).

Also I still think 00000 Million is my favorite song lyrically he's written for Bon Iver. As I think some of his best writing comes from his solo work.

This album means so much to me. It's easily my favorite Bon Iver album at this point, but that was solidified when I saw it played live in full at the Hollywood Bowl

The version of 33 GOD from that set is one of my favorites for sure

For me, 33 God is the most emotional song he's written.

I don't come back to this nearly as much as his first two, but it's still excellent

Yeah, it's probably my least favorite of the three almost by default, but it's still great. Looking forward to putting it back into regular rotation when the weather cools down again.

I really have no idea what direction Bon Iver is going. But I've loved it all.

Did they release why the Mexico thing got canned?

This is a fantastic record by his second album won't ever be topped for me. That record came out exactly when I needed it in my life and will always mean a lot to me. It's fucking perfect.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

The fact that I can say the exact same thing but switching BI, BI and 22 is a testament to how fucking good Bon Iver is

It's hard to say for me. I think I just return to this one the most because it's still kind of new.

I couldn't ever pick between the 3. There's no way. They're so special to me in different ways.
