The two players the Bills received in the deals from the Eagles/Rams are both hurt in their first few days of practice.

 

Odd to use this tweet instead of one in reference to Matthews, when Matthews is the player coming from the Eagles.

 

I guess I just looked at the two as a package deal because they were announced at the same time and it's been widely reported that Jordan Matthews was basically a "toss-in" to the Bills because since they moved Sammy, they needed a WR and the Eagles threw JMatt in as a "pot sweetner" to get the deal done.

The 3rd is what Buffalo wanted. If it wasn't for Sammy Watkins being dealt, Jordan Matthews wouldn't be a Bill right now, imo just like it's doubtful that E.J. Gaines would be a Bill if they didn't send Ron Darby to the Eagles. Circle of life in two trades which is why I guess I consider them both one in the same.

 

The good thing is Gaines returned to practice and I haven't heard anything about an injury beyond going to the tent. Matthews is day to day.

Darby will be good for you guys(assuming you're an Eagles fan)

 

I read Matthews was week to week with his chip fracture....but yes, Darby should be good for us. I mean we were seriously about to start a 2016 7th round pick at one end and a completely washed bum in Patrick Robinson on the other end (or a UDFA from North Dakota State who was destroyed in the game last week against Packers backups). So Darby should be a monumental upgrade.

 

I believe this too, actually; and understand the timing/familiarity with the offense argument for Cutler...but man was it still a dumb move to pay him $10+ mil than pay Kaep less.
