Went down the YouTube wormhole tonight and found this.
This was the first time (besides YEARS ago when my friend randomly played Keystone State for me, but I never revisited it) that I heard The Wonder Years. I didn't recognize the name from when I heard Keystone State way back when. A guy I knew at the time recorded this whole show and I decided to check out one of the videos he posted from it. I watched this and instantly fell in love. Right away I went and bought The Upsides. I was absolutely floored. This seemed like such a cool thing to be a part of. I wanted to scream those words with everyone at the show even though I just heard the band for the first time.
I love this band a lot and I'm glad there's people here who genuinely understand where I'm coming from when I say that. I think we're really lucky to have this band around. They're so important to so many people.
Here I am 6.5 years and 40+ shows later, still screaming every fucking word to every song.

I really wanted to go to this show but couldn't swing it and the Lost Tape Collective show at the church in the same month. Thankfully The Wonder Years popped up for a surprise set there so I still ended up seeing them lol. But not seeing The Upsides in full gutted me, was so glad the anniversary shows happened.

 

Same! I think they played the church again towards the end of the month too after that surprise set. I remember missing it because it was right after I discovered them. But my first show ended up being the Suburbia release which to this day still might be my favorite set I've seen by them

Rob Gordon is probably my favorite TWY song. Highway is up there as well. Hoodie Weather vs Woke Up Older was definitely the toughest for me this round.
