MDS is just the better song overall. The live at Orensanz of MDS shows off it's catchiness and emotion too.

I heard the full album version first, so the sped up intro is "normal" to me.

I think it would have been interesting to have a breather at that point in the album, especially before such a fast paced and emotionally charged song.
