While I've been criticizing MCU for not being more unique I also feel it needs to be said that it's really fucking hard to make a good movie

Nier is one of the best written forms of media ever, and it's crazy that it wouldn't work in any other format besides a video game because of how the story is played out.

I could talk about and praise this game forever

I've honestly never heard of NieR until Dustin started mentioning it a few months ago.

 

Rant, please don't be offended: I just don't get the abundant praise and love for MCU. The only thing that they are ambitious about is the amount of money they're trying to make. The first Gaurdians of the Galaxy movie is bad, just like the second. Just like the Avengers movie. I know these are unpopular opinions around here, but let's be real--these movies are not aging well and they are nothing more than popcorn flicks ushured out to squeeze the most juice out of the current popularity of superhero movies. Saying that this is some grand writing achievement when the movies inherently lack substance and originality is just mind boggling. The reality is that Marvel/Disney/WB/whomever are throwing piles of money and tons of people at all things superhero and comic book related right now, because people are eating this shit up, regardless of the how good it is or not. This will eventually pass in time and I'd wager that this era and trend in cinema will be looked at negatively when it comes to an end. What's especially infuriating about this whole situation is that people keep seeing these movies without care for the quality or value of the film. When you relaunch spiderman so many times in such a short period of time and expect me to love an extremely similar plot in a slightly different package.. it is just too much for me. I won't buy into it and I have zero interest in seeing that franchise succeed. Or ones like it. Bring something of value to the theater and I will watch. I'm not interested in endlessly recycled stories that are pieced together by throwing tons of cash at them until they happen. I'd rather go somewhere new or be outside or talk to new people or do pretty much anything else than sit through another mindless Marvel movie. I know this is cynical, but it's how I feel. End rant.

 

I hadn't heard of it till a couple weeks after it was released, I kept hearing it was pretty good and decided to gamble and play it. Turns out it's one of the most brilliant games on earth, and I didn't know till after I finished it that it was connected with the Drakengard franchise and just how vast it all was.

 

I could cry. this is one of my favorite National songs ever.

I've listened to a whole lot of new stuff in the last week or two

 

same but I think they're just never gonna click for me and I'll feel like everyone is judging me and hate myself forever sounds like a plan

 

Yeah, I went in January. It was great. I'd only ever been snowboarding in NC so it was a real treat. Took like 15-20 minutes just to get down the mountain. Straight powder too.
