How much do you miss Manhattan Bagel?

I miss being able to go to any random spot in NY/NJ and get inexpensive but amazing Italian food, pizza, and bagels. It's amazing how different it is out here

Bialys outside of NY?? Oh man how are they? Good luck getting good pizza out there tho haha

I've found pizza that is in the good to great zone and not the decent zone which is a huge plus. The bialys/bagels I found are actually generally good! Not "good for not NY/NJ good".

One of the weirdest things to me is how foreign it is to people out here to be able to walk into a pizza place and just order a slice? Especially when it's not plain?

When I went to California everyone there kept raving about how great the food was there until I brought up Pizza.

It was like everyone was trying to get me to move there.

Yeah. We like basically live together since we started dating bc I had a private room in an apartment and she was in a shared room in like a boarding house. But yeah we've proper lived together since we got to Whistler in November.

Looks kinda weird from the outside but life is just different in these small mountain towns. Doubt it would have gotten that serious so quickly if we met in a legitimate city/town.

I wish I had more money and could do more exploring with restaurants out here. I haven't been able to find good Italian food unless it's a more expensive restaurant. The trade off is that you can go to mostly any random Mexican restaurant and get great and usually inexpensive food though. But I miss the ease of being on the go and wanting something fast that wasn't fast food and just grabbing a slice of pizza

Getting a single slice is foreign?? Pizza culture is way more complex than I'd thought haha

Yeah, where I live, unless you're in a mall with Sbarro, it's nearly impossible to find a pizza by the slice place.

I'm not sure that it's Pizza culture... I think it's that we're Pizza cultured. Other people ain't.

There are one or two places, like the place I've found. The first time I went there I asked for a plain slice and the guy looked at me and was like "You're from the east coast, aren't you? Everyone out here insists it's cheese pizza" and that's how I knew I had found home. Most people out here hear pizza and think Dominos.

  12. That's how my hometown was. Chicago has no shortage of by-the-slice though. I could eat Dimo's every day forever.

It's weird, back home in CT, it's called "cheese pizza". Down here in Philly, it's always "a slice of plain".

    Regional dialects are weird things.

No no no guys the cheese is always implied. It's plain pizza. Pizza is dough+sauce+cheese. Cheese pizza is redundant. Extra cheese is a different atory

That is so interesting, cheese pizza makes me think of a piece of pizza with a slice of cheddar on it haha. I have never heard it anything besides plain. I wonder what that would look like on those regional dialect map surveys!

I alternate between "pop" and "soda". Spent like half my life in pop territory and half in soda, so they both have kinda stuck.
