The 1975 and Blink 182 are two recent examples for me personally where the difference of the two really matters. In both cases the band thread moves way too fast, gets off topic, and posters are extermely aggressive if you say something negative. On the other hand, both most band's album threads move slower, actually talk about the albums, and people can post more negative leaning things in a decent conversation.

Yeah I hate the album and artist threads co-existing thing. I've learned to live with it now but it makes no sense as to why we can't just talk about everything having to do with an artist in their thread, especially considering that's pretty much how people treat the album threads anyway. Look at a band like Pinegrove for example, a band that should definitely have their own thread here but instead we just talk about everything Pinegrove related in their album thread that we're just like, supposed to abandon when they announce something new? Sounds like cause for a lot more clutter than will be necessary when this site gets to be a few years old imo

the album threads are more essential, it's tough because some artists haven't released an album in a while or it's like do you wait until the album's title and release date is there not just that they're in the studio

I think this also has to do with Chorus being relatively new. We don't have super old threads that we can bump for a lot of bands when there is something to talk about, so a new band thread is the only thing that really makes sense sometimes.

 

This is why I like having both.

 

My only hardline ranking opinion is that Frank Turner's Love, Ire & Song is heads and shoulders above his other work. All other music opinions I can tolerate as subjective and "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and all that shit. However, if you prefer any other Frank Turner album to LI&S, you are factually and horrifyingly incorrect, and should not be trusted in any other matters in any circumstance. Soz.

The gap in quality between Number 1 & 2 is far greater than the gap between 2 & 6.

 

I don't think the gap in his albums is that drastic at all.

I have a long emotional connection to most of his albums, having been a fan of his since his second album. TDH especially holds a special place in my heart especially and I realise I haven't listened to it in a long time and not sure I really could anymore, but it's a fantastic album.
