Bullshit, they don't have that authority surely? I thought the rule was that Neymar (or any other players in Spain) had the right to buy out their contract for a certain amount (Neymars being €222 million). If it is in violation of FFP, that's UEFAs job surely?

 

Based on what someone described a page or two back, the proposed deal is absolutely ridiculous. But, didn't United pay Ander Herrera the buyout clause money to release himself from his Bilbao contract? Seems like a similar thing with Neymar tbh, it's just the whole paying him to be an "ambassador" for the World Cup that makes things seem off

 

I think that's the way it works, that the release clause is basically the right of the player.to buy himself out of his contract. As the players generally don't have that amount of money, the way it works is the club's give the money to the player in return for the player then joining them afterwards.

The ambassador thing is very dodgy, but if there's a loophole like that available, can't blame them.for using it. You'd have to think that with a deal worth this much, PSGs lawyers would have been working for weeks making sure everything in the deal is watertight.

 

We actually gave the money to Ander to pay himself out of contract, because there were weird tax laws like if we deposited it, there would be 40% tax on top. LA liga have removed those tax issues now.
