Really? I saw them with The Early November once... TEN was the way better live band haha

 

well yeah, TEN actually has some interesting musicianship, rocket summer are just catchy pop rock songs that hold up infinitely better than so much from that era

it's an ensemble song that will translate very well to a live stage once this is inevitably made into a live musical. fell flat for me in the movie, i agree with that point, but i think that piece was made for broadway.

i'm not vouching for every song being great but there's enough stuff i still truly enjoy that i will totally back the band as a whole.

 

I don't think I've ever heard a song by that band that I enjoy.

I mean being able to engjoy their music vs. having one of the most consistent catalogs of the last 15 years is pretty different

 

I would trade the First two Menzingers albums and Rented World for Your Wild Years, Bad Catholics, Tellin Lies, Lookers, Midwestern States, and Boy Blue

But seriously - Time Tables, Rivalries, Deep Sleep, Who's Your Partner, and I Was Born are among the top songs in their discography for me. I wouldn't trade them for any songs of off After the Party individually. They stand up well enough against any of their newer tracks or stuff off of OTIP IMO.

 

I'd be fine if nothing pre-ATP existed.

i was looking through my itunes yesterday and realized that there are very few bands that have more than three records that i actively listen to. realizing that TRS has four or five albums that i'd almost put in that category was quite shocking for me

 

i only like OTIP as a whole

 

Good tracks for sure. I Just think this record really hit me. I loved On the Impossible Past but was really disappointed by Rented World so much so that it took me a few weeks to listen to ATP

 

the only track on OTIP i love is "Gates", i'm really frustrated that nothing else made any impact on me at all
