The Parts (I agree with a lot of people on this song. Sounds fit for an RAGC album. Kind of out of nowhere on this album. I like it, but wish it was a lot shorter - like 2 1/2 min).

The melody is definitely different enough that they will be okay. Also chorus and bridge are completely different melodies

 

why...are you guys putting "The Parts" so low?

 

Having the parts that low feels like a crime! Haha Such a beautiful moment on the record. I would throw it somewhere in the middle, I need to redo my rankings at some point today

 

"lead, sd" is the truth

 

I'm torn between The Maze or The Parts being my favorite song on the album.

 

I love it as a standalone song but it just feels so out of place on the record. Wish it just went The Mistake into The Silence.

Edit: Best way to sum up my reason for thinking The Parts feels out of place... The album is supposed to be cinematic and flow like the soundtrack to a movie. The other 10 songs feel like they're part of one movie and The Parts is a good scene from a completely different movie that was edited in as the 2nd to last scene.

 

The Parts is such a stoic, heavy hearted song, so bare and exposed. I'm very surprised to see it at the end of so many of these lists!

I think the record really needs that moment. it's the apex of the restraint they have grown to employ so wonderfully

 

The Moth, The Wolf, The Parts, The Silence, The Grocery, Lead SD are all top tier songs and I don't know if I have a clear favorite yet. They are all equally tied for me right now, but The Moth still gets me pumped

 

I think allows the record to breathe before the silence. I couldn't imagine the album without that song there.

 

really dont get the problem with the parts. feels like it serves it's purpose wonderfully on here.

 

AV Club called this "over-produced and exhausting". Also said that Andy has released 11 albums with MO??

That is absolutely gorgeous. I wonder if the Gold vinyls all look a like that brownish green, I saw one on Instagram that looked a bit more -gold-. Could have been the filter.

 

This looks so much cooler than the Gold bundle version

 

Bad reviews were going to happen but damn I can't believe how much I disagree.. I feel like I'm not even listening to the same album

 

It's definitely more on the brownish green side of the spectrum

I can understand his criticisms, but I think a 'C' is too low even if you have those issues with the album.

Reading Ian's tweets about the record I think it will be their best score by a wide margin.. I'm thinking 7.0
