Man people really think Leaky Breaks is their weakest closer? I think it's phenomenal.

  2. If it wasn't Andy on vocals, I'd never in a million years say "this [hypothetical new band] sounds like Manchester Orchestra" if I heard this album.

Just opened the gold bundle. So much buyer's regret now that I have it. Love the shirt. Photo/lyric book is cool. Vinyl isn't really gold colored. Music box is super cheap and doesn't really work. Not exactly a $90 value. Wish that I got the black/smoke one instead.

It's just such a bore to me and seems to drag on and on. The fuzzy riff is kinda cool, but it just didn't hit me. It just left me scratching my head as it being a closer. I think cope was a weird choice for a closer too.

This is just similar enough to me to feel familiar and not like a totally different band, but different enough that it doesn't sound like a rehash of any of their previous work. The closest comparison to previous work would like they were writing Simple Math but after having learned the lessons of making Hope and the Swiss Army Man soundtrack.

One for each song. Most of them are photos that have been out there already. Book and pages are really high quality but it wasn't bound together well.

NoT bad but I was sort of hoping for more photos

I guess this band deserves our money though

I was expecting a good album but this is incredible. Not sure anything can top after the party but it's close

First, disjointed listen while taking care of the kids. I like it better than cope and simple math easily. Can't wait to listen on headphones :) and tomorrow on the floorstanders :))

The low end on this thing can get nuts. The back half of The Grocery Prince is just booming and it carries all the emotion. Whew. Makes me sweat.

Really hope they release a remix of this album that's just distorted power chords and hard to hear drums because frankly this album just isn't heavy enough but it's aging really well idk probably my favorite album of the decade but it's definitely not going to be on my EOTY list or anything

all im saying is if manchester orchestra would've signed to pure noise and embraced their melodic hardcore/metalcore roots this album might've gone places

Take my opinion with a grain of salt as I've only been through this album once, but here are my initial feelings.

    Songs I Adored:
    The Maze
    The Sunshine
    The Alien
    The Mistake
    The Silence

    Songs I Thought were Good:
    The Gold
    The Parts
    The Wolf
    The Grocery

    Songs I Thought were Mediocre:
    Lead, SD
    The Moth

I'm not the biggest Manchester Orchestra fan, in fact I only like a couple of songs from each of their albums, but I would say that for me personally this is my favorite initial listen that I've had of one of their albums.

Only if there is a stripped down companion album too. A white kilometer to the core perhaps?

And I didn't give The Silence enough props on my previous post, that song is absolutely amazing.

The flow of this album is what gets me.

It's sequenced beautifully, effortless and seamless.

On my fourth listen now and it continues to stick. I remember feeling like many others, wondering if there was "heavy" parts on this record. For me, due to the held back nature of a majority of the album, the parts that hit hardest benefit from that.

    The Grocery, my god.

First listen done. Feeling really good about it, especially everything Alien and on. Although the Silence was a bit underwhelming to me. When I see a 7 minute closer, I always hope for Say Nothing level quality and there isnt much that lives up to that. Ill probably like it more without those expectations.

That classic MO riff in lead right after the first chorus
