so much of this album is making me an emotional wreck, like I want to sit in the dark and drink bottles of wine whilst listening to this and thinking of all the shit I've done that lead me my current state, yet at the same time there is a carthasis here in knowing its going to be ok.

also just remembered that last night they closed with a medley of Colly Strings into The River into Cope into I Can Feel A Hot One. Shame they skipped Leaky Breaks for a 1-4 closer

Would love to see the songs they streamed on Facebook. Everyone was super respectful yesterday and only took very short clips and tried to hide their phones as best as possible.

I have never dug Leaky Breaks. I don't get it. I'm as hard of a MO fan as they come...but that one just doesn't do it for me. I will admit, I was looking forward to an epic closer for their 3rd album before it was even announced. And when the initial interviews said it wasn't going to be a Colly/River...I didn't know what to think. But even going in with lower expectation - I didn't love it, and it's never grown on me. Virgin (the song) was the other let down for me off Simple Math. Never understood all the praise and hullabaloo.

Fucking love black mile though. I can't stop listening.

my first listen begins now. im sure you are all anxious to hear how a ILAV lover, simple math hater, cope apologist, METN tolerator takes this album.

how is it aging for you? would you say the first 10 seconds is a "grower"?

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

If it's similar quality to the singles, Counterparts play circles around this

For sure Leaky Breaks is the weakest of their closers, but I think thematically it would have been cool to add it to the medley. They were shortened versions so they could have kept it a verse and chorus.

Then if they'd have unveiled The Silence I'd have bust a nut

It's aging well. Just needs a little more salt so keep it coming

I'd love to see Leave it Alone. I was going to say Apprehension as well...but it looks like Andy has played it solo. Had no idea:

This feels like a progression on simple math to me.
Hope you don't feel the same. Ha

Tried listening to it today. Nothing bad to say about it. Its still just too hot outside. Need fall weather.

I'll be honest, while I do enjoy the record, I don't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I think a lot of the songs are really good, The Grocery and The Sunshine being standouts. But the record as a whole feels very familiar. I think I just wanted a bigger leap in terms of sound. I still very much like the album though and hope it really grows on me to the point where I don't mind that it wasn't this huge change in sound.

this.....sounds nothing like cope....or any of their albums really....i dont think it even sounds like simple math...just what i *wanted* simple math to sound like at the time

This... So much this!! I was afraid to say this cause I still love SM but this is everything and more I expected from it.

I think they pushed themselves sonically a ton, I agree that some of Andy's melodies are somewhat similar to things he's done in the past but he sounds so good here it doesn't bother me

I should have been more clear. I don't really think this sounds like Cope or Simple Math at all. It's more of a me thing, I'm really into when bands just go in a crazy direction nobody saw coming. This was definitely a natural progression for what they've done and what they are, I just wanted to see them go nuts.

Don't understand the same criticism at all, this sounds almost like a completely different band to me
